Thanks to the few of you who have helped me learn so many things since 2001. I loved this place, but I can't stay here with all the anger and hate for the people I thought were on my side.

When you all get done with your fighting and pissing, I'll likely come back given that DU survives this self-eating phase.

all seems a bit melodramatic to me, but to each his own...

hangs over all of our heads. I don't know about some people here, but I myself can start feeling REALLY helpless and discouraged. The events of these times, in the last six-and-a-half years (well, longer, considering the lopsided, relentless persecution of Clinton) are so far out of control and so far into the realm of our worst nightmares, and so far we haven't been able to do much about it of any significance. And Lord knows we've tried. And we're STILL trying. But the way the deck has been stacked and reinforced - against our side, makes the idea of tilting at windmills seem like a day at Disneyland. Sometimes it makes one want to lash out. It's our own political version of overcrowding and road rage, perhaps.

I don't think anybody means it here, or means to hurt another person or group of people deliberately. I think we're just sick and tired and frustrated and fighting discouragement at every turn. I know how wearing it's been on my own psyche. VERY wearing, indeed.

Steve, I hope you and others those seeking relief from here don't stay away forever. We need you. We need every last one of us! Can't afford to lose or disenfranchise or permanently disgust ANYONE, really.

Criticism = bashing.
Bashing = beating.

What could be simpler?

there are some regular posters i check out. If H2OMan decided to up and leave without telling anyone... i might worry that something bad had happened to him. Also, if you're going to take a stand about something, well, you may as well tell everyone why. Though to be honest Steve was a little vaguer than he could've been. I don't know what the beef was about, but i suspect it was a topic he took personally.

I try not to take anything personally while sitting in front of my computer. If it happens, i walk away for a little bit... that seems to help.

I try like hell (and don't always succeed) to avoid the threads on Hillary, Nader, and genitalia. About all they're accomplishing at this point is to make us look as loony as the RW.

Thank you for your posts. And I also hold the same sentiments regarding self-destructive behavior. As well as ending the occupation.

My advice is to not let those posts interfere with the overall good that happens here. We all get negative. I"m still healing from an outburst I had here. I mistreated a poster who was being smart with me. No excuse.

Many thanks in advance for all the good you will do for your candidate! You are a valuable part of the real world effort.

I do hope you will consider posting an occassional update on Jeff Merkley's Senate campaign.

Sad to say as long as comments on this site drive people away the opposition has no worries that there is a force for democratic unity here.

It would be quite formidable if all these people with such good ideas could be supportive to each other rather than destructive.

I always enjoyed reading your responses and your participation in my threads. Thank you for that, and I agree with you. I may take a little break from this place myself. Seems more are into back biting and hype now and it is a real turn off. Take care.
