I can't believe anyone would believe this crap.
I mean really; listening to shrub right now comparing Al Qaeda to the Japanese empire of WWII and now he will somehow manage to tie this stupid f*cked up war to Vietnam and attempt to spin it as a positive. Amazing too that the audience of veterans is clapping.

Ugh.

20. You should have seen his greeting in Canada two days ago...hahaha
Edited on Wed Aug-22-07 10:40 AM by glarius
CNN or your networks didn't carry any of it live, but we watched it on CBC and CTV. It was HILARIOUS! They managed to get the kitchen staff of Montebello to come outside and line up to greet him. There they were...waiters, chefs in their tall hats etc....all in a polite line. He was so grateful to see something other than the anti-Bush demonstrators....it was pathetic. He was all red in the face and practically ran towards them. He shook hands and slapped backs....It was like a comedy.

2. He only performs his act before audiences that are compelled to be obedient
Bush would never stand before a truly public crowd. He would be very lucky to escape with his skin.

9. Yes. They're not active duty anymore.
I would like to think they are clapping out of respect to the office and not the man.

7. Funny, I was listening too. .. was thinking the same thing. As soon
as I saw this post...I knew just what it was about. The man and his audience are a deluded sheeple of fools. They not only clapped but did so enthusiastically! Have they ALL lost their minds? I wish someone would take that ship of fools and sink it!

9/11, terrorists, fight them there so we don't have to fight them here, etc. Then in the next sentence he starts talking about Vietnam.

13. The official stance of the VFW supports Bush's illegal invasion and the "surge"
VFW, American Legion back Iraq war:
Groups urge patience to let 'surge' work
By Bryan Bender, Globe Staff | August 16, 2007

WASHINGTON -- The American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the nation's oldest and most influential veterans' organizations, have broken their relative silence on the merits of the Iraq war, joining some of the staunchest war supporters to lobby Congress and the public to give the military "surge" more time to work.

This month, the American Legion issued an "action alert" to its three million members, declaring "the war in Iraq is not lost." Last week, the commander of the VFW, Gary Kurpius, reported that troops he met on a recent fact-finding trip to Iraq want "a little more time and patience" for the stepped-up US offensive to succeed.

"We owe them that much," he said.

Since the US invasion in 2003, the Legion and the VFW have focused on pushing for greater benefits for returning Iraq war veterans and proper equipment for troops in combat. Having avoided the highly charged debate over the future of the war, advocating for the surge is a sharp departure for the "old guard" veterans' organizations -- and one that some observers contend could influence policy.
