The ownership society

Thanks to the great ownership society we now live in I can't actually afford to own anything.

Only 30.7 % of my paycheck goes to income tax and s.s. and medicare.

insurance (medical, car, disability) accounts for 1.8 %.

But of course in the new ownership society I get no pension and I now own my own retirement. Thus I max out my 401K, which takes out 15.2 % of my pay check. Of course thanks to the insane debt give away that inflated the local housing market, I can't afford a house so I have to rent. There goes 22.6 % of my check.

So basically 70 % of my pay check is already gone before I get to start owning anything. Sure if I live to retirement I get the benifit of my s.s., medicare and 401 K, but if I die early, I sure have gotten OWNED by the ownership society. I can't even imagine what it's like for people with credit debt or make less than I make.

human being could be used and abused raped and worked to death because they were some assholes "property." Much like what women had to live through through most of the history of civilization being owned by males.. Sigh.
