Does anyone have an apartment anywhere?
My building is now officially a crack house. Our idiot property manager always manages to rent to the loveliest people. I just watched my new neighbor do a huge deal in a van right outside my front window. Big brown bag full of product and a massive stack of cash was exchanged. ALready people in and out all hours of the night. All the perks of being a main cocaine trafic site. Just when one group of morans, the ones who were threatening to kill my neighbor's kids, left we get this. Just as my anti-anxiety meds were starting to work too. Hating this world right now.

3. Come to Michigan!
We have lots of available housing. If you are retired, then Ann Arbor is an excellent place to live. You can get into a co-op and build equity while renting.

to house sit for us, as we're living closer to my work. But it is in NW Arkansas!

8. I have no problem with Arkansas

It has to be better than the farce of a blue state NY is right now. High taxes, infrastructure crumbling everywhere and my town becoming nothing but military barracks basically. Landlords gouging everyone so the locals can't afford to live here anymore and the city makes owning a house impossible with draconian property taxes. Do you need house sitters long enough for us to find work? I'm nearly serious Aye. I'd drag the wife (in a uncruel and humane way) kicking and screaming for her own good if I had to. Arkansas is almost on the east coast isn't it?

edit to add: just looked at my map, guess not lol.

9. Uh, not quite the East Coast, my dear Shadow.
Takes two days to drive to the Coast. :)

Though the mountains remind some of the Berkshires, and the brother of the mayor of New Haven is a local lawyer. The house is a good survival place, but not located where you can conveniently commute to work (which is why we moved). The area is great for someone with a home business (see http://www.spencerwoodentoys.com ), or who can work online (I'm working on doing that full time, but haven't made it yet).

7. Come to Massachusetts

The bluest state in the country. We are losing population, and we may end up losing a congresscritter if the 2010 census shows too much of that. We've got major players in the tech, medical and finance sectors located here. So jobs shouldn't be that hard to come by. Unfortunately, I don't have an apartment to offer.

10. Try the New York state forum
or, for that matter, the forum of any other state that strikes your fancy.

11. Sorry for your horrible luck. And be good at minding your own business
these days. Then find a new place.
