Bush invokes 'tragedy of Vietnam' against Iraq pullout
http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/08/22/bush.iraq.speech/?iref=mpstoryview

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (CNN) -- President Bush drew parallels today between the aftermath of the Vietnam War and the potential costs of pulling out of Iraq in a speech today.

President Bush sought to draw parallels between the cost of pulling out of Iraq and "the tragedy of Vietnam."

1 of 2 "Three decades later, there is a legitimate debate about how we got into the Vietnam War and how we left," Bush told members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

"Whatever your position in that debate, one unmistakable legacy of Vietnam is that the price of America's withdrawal was paid by millions of innocent citizens, whose agonies would add to our vocabulary new terms like 'boat people,' 're-education camps' and 'killing fields,' " the president said.

The White House billed the speech, along with another address next week to the American Legion, as an effort to "provide broader context" for the debate over the upcoming Iraq progress report by Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. military commander, and Ryan Crocker, the U.S. ambassador in Baghdad.

1. So the Vietnam war which was a bad idea based on lies is reason to ...
.... stay in Iraq?

The man is a used car salesman ..... "Let me tell you why getting this car is a good
idea for you."

3. Strange he didn't think Vietnam was so important back ...
when he was eligible to go. At the time he thought his coke and booze habit was more important than winning the war.

6. The price of American fighting was, also, millions of innocent lives
It wasn't the NVA carpet-bombing with B-52s, remember...

If the goal is to save innocent lives the trauma of war, then we shouldn't be invading other countries, recognizing it is better to be alive and oppressed than dead for freedom.

If the goal is to save innocent people from tyranny, then we should be invading other countries, understanding that some or many will die for the cause of freedom.

Which is it, Georgie?

Oh, right, the worst of both worlds... invading other countries so that some or many will die for tyranny.

Heckofajob, Georgie.
