It is not as though there isn't plenty of dirty laundry to report,

And they want so much to be like the big boys. The job of journalism is just an excuse to get close to people they wish they were more like and from whom they crave acceptance.

Starting from that motivational origin, it's natural not see, in the powerful adored figure, the lies they tell as lies, or their crimes as crimes.

I think there are a number of politicians with the same problem. They just can't believe these Republicans really mean the rhetoric they spew to get elected. A little bubble is created and all this hot air just flows inside the bubble.

I also think it's how they get the idea that a family living on $100,000 a year is of modest means. They are, to the MSM journalists and wealthy politicians.
