Help I am on phone w/bank account scammer-what should I ask??
Edited on Thu Aug-23-07 11:13 AM by fed-up
They told me that my account had fraudulent activity and that they have recovered the money-$695 and would like to put it into my account

What questions should I ask/

I asked which bank and they said...

I asked which account number and they are finding a supervisor as they can't release that "confidential information"... hahaha

if anything I will tie up their line so they can't scam some innocent person out of their info..

just to add I KNOW this is a scammer and will NOT give any info

When you call that number you get a message that says, "Please hold while we connect you to Great Expectations Jacksonville". That's a dating service. They're probably using a caller id spoofing service.

A friend of mine did something like that when Sprint called to try and get him to switch services. He started rattling off all the different services he got from his current provider, which were met with, "Oh, we provide that," from the salesperson he was working with. After getting her used to saying that he said...

"What about the 50 cents a minute phonesex?"
"We have tha... I'm sorry, what?"
"The 50 cents a minute phonesex. So... What are you wearing?"

44. more than thank-you-I used ftc # to file a loan fraud complaint about my fix/arm
when I got to the ftc website I click to this page with a phone number

http://www.ftc.gov/ftc/contact.shtm
There are three ways you can contact the Federal Trade Commission's Consumer Response Center:

Electronically: If you have a complaint about a particular company or organization, use our secure complaint form.
Phone: Toll-free:
1-877-FTC-HELP (382-4357) or
1-877-ID-THEFT (438-4338)
Mail:
Federal Trade Commission
CRC-240
Washington, D.C. 2058

and while waiting through the menu of options I heard one that was for mortgage fraud

I decided it was more important that I finally lodge a complaint against the mortgage company that did the bait/switch on me
and even had my loan application in front of me that clearly has the "fixed rate" box checked

The ftc said it would take a few years to resolve anything, but that it was VERY IMPORTANT to file the complaint. I will post the info on a separate thread.

thanks again, I have had so many other issues to deal with that I had just sort pushed that one aside....

31. You are a natural born "scam-baiter."
Edited on Thu Aug-23-07 12:00 PM by Kingshakabobo
Check this out....This is my favorite scam-bait of all times. This is from a website that promotes "baiting" scammers by sending them on wild goose chases - often scamming the scammers out of money and goods.

Acting as the head of a foundation, the "scam-baiter" talks the scammer/crook in to, among other things, making a bust for the promise of $25,000 dollars. He receives the bust from the scammer but refuses to pay because the bust arrived damaged. The letters are a real hoot.

Subject: HELP ME TO SPREAD GOODNESS

Hello my friend,

Hope this day finds you well?, I am Ony Obo a merchant in Nigeria, I have been diagnosed with Esophageal cancer, It has defiled all forms of medical treatment, and right now I have only about a few months to live, according to medical experts.

I have not particularly lived my life so well, as I never really cared for anyone (not even myself) but my business. Though I am very rich, I was never generous,I was always hostile to people and only focused on my business as that was the only thing I cared for. But now I regret all this as I now know that there is more to life than just wanting to have or make all the money in the world.

Now that God is about to call me, I have willed and given most of my property and assets to my immediate and extended family members as well as a few close friends. I want God to be merciful to me and accept my souL. I have decided to give also to charity organizations, as I want this to be one of the last good deeds I do on earth. So far, I have distributed money to some charity organizations in the U.A.E, Algeria, Sudan, Europe and Kenya. Now that my health has deteriorated so badly, I
cannot do this myself anymore.

I once asked members of my family to close one of my accounts and distribute the money which I have there to charity organization in Bulgaria and Pakistan, they refused and kept the money to themselves. Hence, I do not trust them anymore, as they seem not to be contended with what I have left for them. I will want you to help me collect my last deposit and dispatched it to charity organizations which I deposited in security/finance house abroad,

>>>>>much much more at link :rofl::rofl::rofl:

The bust made by the scammer....made from a photo of himself the scam-baiter sent....to the crook.

Photo shopped "evidence" of the bust damage. "Sorry, we can't pay for damaged goods."

The "culprit" that caused the damage.

Even if you think you'd never have the desire to watch a word for word recreation of the dead parrot sketch in thick African accents, believe me, you do. I almost felt sorry for the guy as I was reading the dozens of emails documenting all the hoops he had to jump through in order to get what he thought was coming to him.... almost. Definitely satisfying to know that at least some of the scammers get what's coming to them.

I did call my local Police Dept but since I was NOT a fraud victim (I did not give info) all they did was just take note of it.

Fine by me as long as they keep doing stories for the local paper about phone scammers.

Heck, I figure that I kept her on the line for at least 30 minutes and that saved at least one naive person from divulgin account info.

And at the end I told her that she was working for criminals and that they were using people's account info to ROB them and that she would probably go to jail when they got busted. :)
