Two Events Remain A Mystery To Me....
One, why did Porter Goss resign so hurriedly and unexpectedly as the CIA Director?

Two, what was said to Brian Williams and Timmy Russert before Bush's State of the Union Address when they were called in early and Bush gave them 'a wide-ranging' view of the world? You will recall that Brian Williams held up a reporter's notepad he claimed was full of information they were not allowed to release, and both he and Timmy looked like they were going into shock.

Neither of these events was satisfactorily explained.

2. Goss was involved with Dusty Foggo and the Cunningham stuff...
and Govt. Contracts for stuff that no one wants us to know about the full extent of. Goss is a good ole boy for Congress. Congress protects their own. At least that's my surmise of it. Josh Marshall has all that good stuff about Goss and Foggo and the other one in his archives.

5. you're right
the speculation at the time based on their demeanor and some vague allusions they made was that they had had it demonstrated to them that he was batshit crazy. I still think that is the case. In all likelihood he made it clear that, like the Blues Brothers, he thinks he is on a "mission for gott!"

Why they don't spill the beans remains a mystery. Personally, I would feel a moral obligation. Even if that's not it, whatever it is had them shook up. The press uses "The peoples right to know" to expose any and everything they can about drunken actors and such that have no bearing on anything except salaciousness and nosiness, but when it is something that may well have bearing on the future of humanity - well then they have to keep mum for fear of offending the powers that be.

7. I watched that interview and Russert looked shell shocked...
I specifically recalled that Williams said Bush gave a wide-ranging view of the whole world. I thint it was Tweety doing the interviewing, and he got them to confirm it was not limited to just Iraq.

So what in the heck was said that had them so spooked? And why have none of the other reporters invited inside the White House for this special little meeting with Bush breathed a word about what was said?

I always surmised that Bush told them we likely would have to go into Iran to solve the Iraq problem. That would be enough to scare me.

8. they were both REALLY spooked
how in the HELL can all the people who know stuff - this, Tillman, Lynch, Plame, and on and on and on continue to sit on it?

Are we really THAT polarized that the people on the other side of the looking glass really think they are right and WE are pod people?
