Isn't Pelosi SECOND in line, not third?
As I understand the Order of Succession it goes like this: next in line is Darth Veep. Second in line is Speaker of the House.

Those who say third in line are playing "Who's On First?" ( Prez on first, Veep on second, Speaker on third.) But the Prez is not "in line". He has already taken his seat, no?

13. Al "In charge here at the WH" Haig looks as if he was into the colloidal silver in that pic.
Either that or he's scared shitless. And this guy actually thought he could be president!

4. Depends if you start from zero or one.
If you consider Dumbass to be one, Pelosi is three. If on the other hand you consider Dumbass to be a complete zero, as I do, then yes of course Pelosi would be the number two.

10. Third on the list/2nd in line, sort of depend where you start counting from.
I don't think anybody is confused about the actual order of succession.

11. She probably is not be in line at all. Constitution says it has to be an "officer of the US" and
Edited on Fri Feb-09-07 10:49 AM by RGBolen
then states that congressional members can not be "officers of the United States."

The constitutionality of the Presidential Succession Act of 1947 has never been determined. When someone has standing to challenge it, they are going to win.

on edit

Also, no one but a Vice President becomes President. Anyone else Sec. of State, Treasury, whoever becomes Acting President, they do not hold the office of President. They have all the powers of the office but they do not hold the office.

14. Interesting.
Who is categorized as "an officer of the US"? Does this mean military commanders? Cabinet members?

15. It was always believed to be civil officers

the term "civil office" is used in the prohibited positions of congressional members. Also many of the framers notes refer to the cabinet positions as the "officers of the United States." The provisions of the 47 act determining the order of the cabinet secretaries would seem to be within their power as the constitution charges the congress with choosing which "officer" should act as President.

Art. 2 Sec. 1
"and the Congress may by Law provide for the Case of Removal, Death, Resignation or Inability, both of the President and Vice President, declaring what Officer shall then act as President, and such Officer shall act accordingly, until the Disability be removed, or a President shall be elected."

17. There are many constitutional experts who say she is not and they are

far from idiots.

Of course it's not about Pelosi, it's a question of the law being unconstitutional as many believe it is.

18. Not too sure it even matters...
unless Dimwit and Darth both exit at the same time. If anything happens to the
Boy King, Big Dick would become president (not that he already isn't).

He would name a new VP, and Nancy would still be second or third depending on
how you look at it.
