Las Vegas is short 363 teachers
Edited on Sat Aug-25-07 03:31 AM by Bluebear
The Clark County School District will begin the school year Monday short at least 363 teachers, a shortfall district officials attribute largely to the rapid growth of the Las Vegas Valley.

Recruiters have been working since mid-June to reduce a shortage that was then more than 1,100. But with 11 new schools opening and an estimated 11,640 more students expected to pour into the nation's fifth-largest school system on Monday, the challenge was great, district officials said.

"We're still at a point where we were last year, but we have 11 new schools to fill," said Martha Tittle, the district's chief human resources officer.

1. Thanks for the heads up...
I have two nephews who studied to be teachers, one even got his masters. Neither could find full time employment as teachers.

2. An excellent time to relocate there...
The housing market has suffered a blow because of many out-of-state speculators who planned to flip houses 1-2 years ago. There are some great bargains to be had.

You will no doubt hear a lot of people on this thread chime in how they wouldn't be caught dead there, but there is more to the area than just the Strip :)

4. However, I'm sure that Vegas is overflowing with plenty of escorts and strippers
Of all varieties, of course

Seems to me where the city's priorities lie, And it's not with the children of their growing population.

Well maybe they can hand these out as school uniforms:

5. As I said above, I could have anticipated a post such as yours.
Is that why Clark County produced the recruitment video that I cited? Do you know anything about the school system there to say they don't care about children?
