I'm not sure exactly how I feel about it, but it seems that a great portion of the Larry Craig discussion here boils down to this question.

5. Only If It Bothers Me In Some Way.
If I am looking to use a stall, and two people are in the only stall around, then yes, it bothers me.

If I am looking to use a stall, and two people are in one of five stalls, and another is available for me, then no, I am not bothered.

If I am NOT using the bathroom at all, then no, I am not bothered.

And -- just so you know -- Larry Craig and the officer did NOT have sex, so your comment that it all boils down to this question is somewhat off the mark.

In which case I'd go nuclear on the person, i.e., I'd help getting him busted.

10. HELL, no - it's a public health issue as well as a personal decency issue
If you want to get your freak on, there are more suitable venues for that than a public bathroom - or a public park, for that matter. We've got a park near downtown that's notorious for being a magnet for anonymous sex in the bushes.

11. No Sex In Public Bathrooms
I don't condemn people for much of anything they do. But there are things that society as a whole doesn't have to tolerate, and bathroom sex is one of those things. Too bad, so sad, deal with it.

for that reason, as a grandmother of grandson's I will not allow them to use a public bathroom alone...will anyone complain if my grandson's come in with me in the Women's room.

I had no idea this was a problem, and it frightens me to think of my grandsons in a men's room being confronted with this behavior.

26. It gets harder when they get older. My 8 year old son won't go into the women's
bathroom. He is too old for that. He knows he isn't supposed to go in, especially after years of going elementary school.

When we are traveling without my husband (which we frequently do to go visit my parents) and we stop at a rest area, he goes into the mens room. I've even tried to get him to come in with me sometimes and he just won't. I don't blame him.

I don't want him walking in and seeing anything.

Now I'm more worried about those rest areas.

Consensual sex? I don't give a damn but I sure as hell don't want my kids walking in on it no matter who is doing it.

29. I think the solution is to escort him into the men's room
Just announce you're coming in as you open the door -- "mother with child" or something. In general men don't freak out when a woman is in a men's restroom, either by mistake, or more often, particularly in airports, as a female cleaning attendant. And then after you've briefly checked that things look OK, leave him to use the facilities, or stay if you prefer. Very few guys would make a fuss about it.

20. My feeling is more nuanced, but if I had to I guess I'd say NO.
These things sometimes happen in places that are fairly off the beaten path, or where most people at risk know what to expect. Some clubs, some park restrooms after hours and so on.

In those situations I don't think it's a GOOD idea, but I feel about it sort of the way I do about speeding: it happens and I don't fret about it too much.

in other circumstances I'm not okay with it at all. And by that, I mean more public and trafficked places like library, mall or airport restrooms. I don't think it's acceptable to make others party to your sex acts by doing it in a stall next to them. I don't think it's acceptable to make people feel the bathroom is a potentially menacing place.

And with regard to the Craig situation, I am COMPLETELY intolerant of people peering into occupied stalls or invading them in any way.

25. It Would Depend On The Venue, The Population In Question, And The Possibility Of Detection...
If someone was caught having sex in an adult bookstore restroom I am going to look at him or her more benignly than I would look at someone caught in flagrante delicto in a public restroom at a major airport...

There's no secret to it--they just both go into the same bathroom and take care of business. Note I don't say they -arrange- anonymous sex in a public bathroom--usually it's arranged in a public place beforehand. There's also a club called "The Mile High Club" whose entire raison d'etre is sex in a public toilet. And it's not at all limited to homosexuals.

37. Public restrooms are generally disgusting.
The thought of two or more people having sex in one grosses me out.

Beyond that, I think that a person's right to conduct their sex life as they see fit should begin and end at their own front door (or private yard, or car with tinted windows, or whatever as long as it isn't a public place where other people not in the relationship are trying to conduct their business).

People blame homeless people for pissing/shitting on the ground, but the few public bathrooms available to them get monopolized by hookers and junkies. I wish there was a place for sex workers to do their work legally, ditto a legal, regulated place for addicts to get abd take their drugs.
