"Morale?" asked Bush. "How's morale?"
Edited on Mon Sep-03-07 09:49 AM by kurth
"Morale?" asked Bush. "How's morale?"

"Very high sir," the pilot, Capt. Lee Hemming, said.

Bush's six-hour stay was being confined to Al-Asad Air Base, an airfield once part of Saddam Hussein's military.

National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley said the trip was conceived about six weeks ago when top White House advisers began discussing Bush's role as Congress returns to Washington and debate over the war heats up. It was decided that progress in Anbar made it the perfect place to showcase the administration's strategy...

"There are some people who might try to deride this trip as a photo opportunity," White House deputy press secretary Dana Perino said. "We wholeheartedly disagree."

What Capt. Hemming really meant was: "Morale sucks, and you are a goddamned asshole".

4. How is that looking them in the eye thing working Chimp?
"There is no substitute for sitting down, looking him in the eye, and having a conversation with him," Hadley said. "The president felt this is something he had to do in order to put himself in a position to make some important decisions."

White or Dark meat?

6. I don't think him lookin people in the eye is very reliable
He looked Putin in the eye and pronounced him a good man. Putin's been fucking him in the ass ever since.

He looked Maliki in the eye and said he was capable of uniting Iraq. We all know what's happened since then.

If he ever looked me in the eye he'd probably say I was a strong repub supporter.

5. Like someone in the service would tell the truth to
this idiot. When I was in I can remember the Admirals or Master Chief of the Navy coming and having meetings with the sailors. When they asked questions you ALWAYS gave the right answer because if you didn't when the big wigs left you were in a world of shit. They don't want to hear anything but the truth as they know it.

Then they go out and say how great everything is. I remember back in the early 90's I was on a ship and the brass was saying how ships were in home port for a year etc. We all looked at each other in the goat locker and said "what ship is that" we were underway for 300 out of 365 days. It must have been the ship the admiral was embarked in that was home.

9. If he went and talked to some of the grunts I know...
he would get an earful of the truth.

Anyone that gets to see the Chimp has been pre-screened to blabber, "Yessir! Yessir! Three bags full! Morale is very high!"

8. Ah, the "some people" dodge, how I've missed it
Nicely done, Ms. Perino. For the record, I would never deride the trip merely as a photo opportunity. No, I'd deride it as a very expensive photo opportunity.

By the way, they got the name of the captain wrong: It wasn't Lee Hemming, it was Dee Lemming.

18. Since when is ** concerned with the morale of the troops? Why that question?
:eyes: And just what would ** expect the answer too be? Tell him what he wants too hear, as always.

Yeah sure the trip was conceived six weeks ago. :eyes: Then why the need to clarify that point? Because most DO feel that is nothing more than a photo-op. It always is with **.
