It's Official --All 5500 Brits Pulled Out of Basra --Bush Furious LINK

Gordon Brown is deploying the Brits out of Iraq. Just at the time Bush is about to argue the 'surge' is working and Americans need 'more time.'

This may portend a lack of British support in any attack on Iran.

From here on out folks, we are truly 'on our own.'

Congress needs to understand that historians will hold them accountable for not stopping the Bush/Cheney Administration. THere is still time to avert an attack on Iran, but Congress must act now --not after attacks have begun.

Only one apt description --'going from bad to worse.'

10. Some of themhave expressed opinions on the matter...
When asked Senator Hillary Clinton had this to say:

"I think President Bush has done, so far, the right thing by not taking the military option off the table, but not pushing it too much."

http://www.zombietime.com/clinton_on_iran_at_davos/

John Edwards has also chimed in:

"To ensure that Iran never gets nuclear weapons, we need to keep ALL options on the table, Let me reiterate – ALL options must remain on the table."

Unless you're willing to kill EVERY single enemy soul,
leaving not one enemy man, woman or child alive any-
where in the world, and to also kill anyone who would
take revenge for the people you've killed, nukes can't
end an asymmetrical war.

They are saying "See. That is what will happen if we leave Iraq". Bah. If we had true reporting we would already be seeing that IS what is currently happening all over Iraq.

c'mon Repubs... if winning in Iraq this that absolutely critical, then let's start drafting! And nationalizing the military-industrial complex! And war taxes!

16. I thought there were only 500 British troops in Basra
Edited on Mon Sep-03-07 10:43 AM by DemReadingDU
Those 500 were leaving city of Basra to be with 5000 other troops at the Basra airport

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/iraq/article2374396.ece

edit to add snips from the article...
The final 500 British troops in Basra city last night withdrew under the cover of darkness from their base, a former palace of Saddam Hussein.

Basra airport will now be the only base for the 5,500 soldiers still serving in southern Iraq. With the palace base handed to the Iraqis, the Government is expected to announce that the British presence in Iraq will be reduced by 500 within the next few weeks.

19. Brit Members of Parliment and Brit voters WILL hold Brown responsible if they don't pull out...
...and Brown knows this.

Blair was facing the same thing.

Bush most likely got the bad news when he met with Brown, even though there was no public acknowledgement of that little ditty.

I am looking forward to the Brits fully investigating the reasons for starting this war.

23. Wonder how much foreign aid was paid for each 'Coalition soldier' on the ground in Iraq...
When Bush was putting together his 'coalition of the willing' it was reported that countries were being paid huge sums of money to send token soldiers so that Bush could claim a coalition existed.

Anyone have a link on that?

The Brits are leaving --no way for Bush to spin that.

When Patraeus' report is made public, we need to ask why the Brits are leaving if the 'surge' is working?

37. Read the article - It's real NEWS reporting like we don't see any more in the US
Leave it to the Brits (and actually the rest of the world) to give the whole story. It's being played here as a successful handover to the local police and security forces but it looks like the Mail sees it differently.

same as the more reliable papers.

Here's an article on the subject from 'The Guardian'.
