37. Seriously...
...those pictures make her look more like a prop than ever. She stands a little behind and to the side, she keeps her head down deferentially, she doesn't say a goddamned word. I dunno, somehow when the Secretary of State visits another country -- even in the company of the pResident -- I somehow expect the SOS to have something to say. To, in fact, lead whatever efforts are being made.

Ha ha ha. Fat chance. What a worthless SOS she is -- just like she was a worthless NSA. She, like Harriet Miers and a lot of the Mayberry Machiavellis, is in waaaay over her head -- so far over her head that she doesn't even realize it. I guess it's that human characteristic -- we all think we're above average. This crew thinks they're "the adults". Talk about delusional!

17. That box thing again
When he had the navy linen shirt on they showed him from the back and the back of his shirt was all sweaty and sticking to him. As he turned sidewise I could clearly see the outline of that box thing in the middle of his back again. What is that? I think it's medical.

There's nothing to identify it as Iraq. Hell, it could be a hangar at an AFB stateside, with a couple of vehicles rolled in for show.

21. Good call, grasswire
You're right that this could have been photographed anywhere. Shades of Wag the Dog. OTOH, if it was Iraq, it's clear that Bush is dressed in black so he can't be easily seen as a target.

42. I was thinking the same thing.
Isn't it suppose to be like 130 degrees in Iraq right now? Nobody seems to be sweating? Even in the daytime pictures. If I'd just gotten off the air conditioned airforce one, I'd be sweatin' big time!

18. Is it just me or are his beady little eyes getting even closer together?
Also I just surmised that his skinny lips could substitute for the three witches in Macbeth. You remember the old "Double, double; toil and trouble;/ Fire burn and cauldron bubble." bunch or maybe you prefer "Fair is foul and foul is fair;/Hover through the fog and filthy air." lot. Everywhere Bush goes is trouble and is foul.

22. Know how I know FOR SURE that these photos were NOT taken in Iraq?
Because the armoured vehicle that's there for Bush's protection is
just that - ARMOURED.
If he were really in Iraq, there'd be a bunch of exhausted soldiers on their 3rd tour,
wearing flack jackets their mothers saved up money for and sent to them,
standing in a pick-up truck with a piece of plywood for a shield and scrap iron
for protection, taken from a broken-down jeep some of their buddies died in.

(Sorry to be so bleak, but seeing Bush in these Twilight Zone photographs,
wearing his sports jacket, joking and laughing it up with Petraeus while Condi
stands there in her shiny new pumps just makes me feel extra-disgusted).

..trip to see what kind of shoes Condi was wearing then.

The idea that she would wear spiky heels to Iraq is just too weird. Doesn't she know that rockets nearly took down a plane leaving Baghdad with congressmen last week? She might want to wear something she could abandon an aircraft in.

29. She's smart enough to know that high heels are not really appropriate for Iraq -
unless it was more important to her to look nice for her husband.
Um, I mean, for George.

i wonder whose idea it was for this little photo-op? and on labour day? i guess thats because the republicans see labour day as a COMMIE holiday? hilarious though, that he had to hide on some base off in the desert instead of baghdad. he'll never squirm his way out of that cowardly act.

27. The Crawford Coward? Of course he will.
I have never seen anything in my life like the way they froze Manhattan while Bush was here for the RNC. They were so skeered of coming to scary New York City they basically evicted everyone in Midtown. It was like they bought out Disneyland for a corporate event, only with machine guns and barricaded checkpoints.

30. Like when Elvis would rent out an entire amusement park so he could go through
freely with his buddies at night and have the run of the place.

Only, didn't the RNC have a tiny, fenced off area to contain
the protesters in, like a mini concentration camp that was
as far away as possible from where the bank of cameras were
positioned?

In Elvis's case, it was to keep away the hordes of fans who adored him.
In George's case, well......
