Labor Day in Vermont: Iraq, Impeachment, Labor

Labor marched in Burlington, Vermont today. The parade was noisy, enthusiastic, and fun. There were hundreds of participants and dozens of watchers. Media was notable for its absence. Politicians' speeches resounded with promise, but when confronted, Vermont's long Congressman, Peter Welch, demured on endorsing impeachment.

Congressman Welch presented with over 2500 petitions calling for the impeachment of Cheney and Bush. Welch gave his usual counter about how busy Congress was and how much was accomplished already. Jimmy Leas presented Welch with the petitions, and put the hard questions to him.
