Im heading to the roundtable discussion with Obama....

The roundtable discussion went really well. I was really nervous until I sat down and he started speaking. After that, it was something like sitting around somebody's kitchen table just talking about thing
s happening in our lives. Of course, the press was there. I was told by the girl who coordinates these things that there would be "a few press people" there. Holy God. LOTS of cameras flashing, video recorders and there were microphones "hidden" under the tablecloth! I asked the co
ordinator about media coverage of the event, but she said she'd know later on today and get back to us.
We asked him alot of questions; among them, prescription drug coverage, media manipulation of the news, secrecy in government, healthcare, Iraq, education, etc. I met alot of people today; we stayed for awhile after to have coffee. It was a great experience. I'm so glad I didn't wimp out!

I was second to the right of him under the heading "Breakfast with Obama" The local news carried it for about two seconds. I missed the news, but my husband said he saw my face for a second. WOW! Do you think I should wear sunglasses and dodge the paparazzi?

So what kind of personality does he have - calming, energetic, impatient, listener. What did he say about the media distortions. I'm really concerned he doesn't get that people who have power really are manipulating stories, that our government is just way out of control. It would have been nice to ask him about the Lockerbie case that just broke, for instance.

So there wasn't much time for anything else. He did talk about what we see on television vs. what we see in real life.

I didn't sleep the night before, so I was relieved that when I opened my mouth, words came out! Obama is so easy to talk to. When I talked about being in the "donut hole" of my Medicare Part D plan, he said "I'm worried about you". Is that class or what?
