Here is a list of Democrats who are or were with the DLC
I am printing the list of the Presidential candidates. On the list was Obama but, it was proven he never was associated with the DLC (though Harold Ford, the new prez of the dlc is trying to get him in there and keeps namedropping Obama. Obama remains adverse to the DLC).
So, these are the candidates and I will provide link to the list of all dems associated now or at one time. This is not in any way to start any flame wars or to upset anyone. I just thought people might be curious if their rep or senator is associated. I do not know if any listed still are members as that was not indicated.

Presidential Candidates
2008
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton(NY)
former Senator John Edwards(NC)
former Governor Tom Vilsack(IA)
Governor Bill Richardson(NM)
Senator Joseph Biden(DE)

1. Know them by their health plan
Universal coverage dedicated more to protecting the profits of the insurance giants than actually delivering medical care to sick Americans.

2. this is true. The article that was used to debunk the Obama rumor listed
three things that are antithma to DLCers. They don't support universal healthcare, they support NAFTA and free trade and support the war in Iraq.
this is why some voted for and some against. OMG! I just answered the burning question. The ones associated with the DLC voted yes.

7. I was going to say that your presence here is highly offensive ...
but I will abstain and instead ask -- what are you doing here?

9. The ACLU
defended David Duke of the KKK because he had the right to be on the ballot in 1992. What is it about Republicans that they don't understand that the defense of civil liberties and the upholding of the Constitution apply to ALL of us? And, why is it, that the advancement of civil rights throughout our country's history ONLY seems to have taken place during Democratic administrations and congresses? Meanwhile, anytime a Republican tries to introduce a Constitutional Amendment, (such as the so-called, "Defense of Marriage Act") the proposed Amendment is about limiting, rather than broadening our "inalienable" rights?

A Republican finds a post on Democratic Underground "highly offensive?":eyes:

8. Gore did come out against the war in 2002...
and urged against giving the chimp broad war powers under the iwr.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/09/23/politics/main523030.shtml

If I'm not mistaken, he was for free and fair trade with labor and environmental protections.

This was his 2000 platform on health care:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/columnists/wickham/wick119.htm

http://www.issues2000.org/Al_Gore_Health_Care.htm

The dlc didn't think he was "republican enough":

http://www.progress.org/goredlc2.htm

Gore doesn't fit the dlc even if he was a member once:

http://www.buzzflash.com/smith/06/01/smi06008.html

I tend to agree with the above opinion piece. Gore is not beholden to the dlc.

11. Bury those DINOs.
Bury them all. As far as I'm concerned, only real progressives need apply to be a Democratic Presidential candidate.

15. In case you didn't know...
The DLC gave strong support for the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Prior to the war, Will Marshall co-signed a letter to President Bush from the Project for the New American Century endorsing military action against Saddam Hussein. During the 2004 Primary campaign the DLC attacked Presidential candidate Howard Dean as an out-of-touch liberal because of Dean's position of only pursuing Osama Bin Laden instead of invading Iraq. The DLC dismissed other critics of the Iraq invasion such as filmmaker Michael Moore as "Anti-American" and members of the "loony left" <7>. Even as domestic support for the Iraq War plummeted in 2004 and 2005, Marshall called upon Democrats to balance their criticism of Bush's handling of the Iraq War with praise for the President's achievements and cautioned "Democrats need to be choosier about the political company they keep, distancing themselves from the pacifist and anti-American fringe."

Democratic Leadership Council
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_Leadership_Council

* President Bill Clinton
* Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana
* Sen. Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut
* Rep. Dave McCurdy of Oklahoma
* Sen. John Breaux of Louisiana
* Sen. Sam Nunn of Georgia
* Sen. Charles Robb of Virginia
* Former House Democratic Leader Rep. Richard Gephardt of Missouri.
* Former Governor Tom Vilsack of Iowa

The Democratic Leadership Council is a non-profit corporation<1> that argues that the United States Democratic Party should shift away from traditionally populist positions. Moderate and conservative Democratic party leaders founded the DLC in response to the landslide victory of Republican candidate Ronald Reagan over Democratic candidate Walter Mondale during the 1984 Presidential election. The founders believed the United States Democratic Party needed to shift to the right of center to remain viable during the Reagan era. The DLC hails President Clinton as proof of the viability of third way politicians and as a DLC success story. Critics contend that the DLC is effectively a powerful, corporate-financed mouthpiece within the Democratic party that acts to keep Democratic Party candidates and platforms sympathetic to corporate interests and the interests of the wealthy.

The DLC's affiliated think tank is the Progressive Policy Institute. Democrats who adhere to the DLC's philosophy often call themselves New Democrats.
