I think I may have the answer to why some dems voted yes to war
I did a post to a link of democrats who were associated with or once with the DLC.
I was writing a post back to someone when it occured to me. I am not 100% sure. If anyone knows of all who voted for or against may be able to tell us.
I think everyone in the DLC voted for the war.
Those who did not vote for war were not with the DLC.
Because the DLC are known for 3 things. They support NAFTA, Don; t support universal health care and Support the war.
Can anyone who knows who all voted for it check please.
If this theory is true then that is why some did and some did not vote for the war.

3. basically, in the senate
anyone who was up for re-election voted for the war, or of course if you wanted to run for president. People who weren't running for re-election that year or actually had morals voted against it.

5. This is just a theory. Like the ones who voted yes, are all in the DLC
because that is something the association is for. And are the ones who voted no not in the DLC. This might answer our questions as to why.

11. I listened to the whole thing.
(I was a Sprint lay-off.)

I held out hope that he would. But . . . .

At least he came out of the YEA-pack relatively early and admitted he had done wrong.

God! I wish Hillary would do better on that issue - in unequivocal terms - and she doesn't have to humiliate herself to do that. Believe me, I am not a one issue, "litmus" test, voter, but this issue has had such huge impact on everything about the U.S., it's implications are soooooo DEEP about who and what our "leaders" are . . . I can never trust ANY of them ever again. HC must explain to me why I should.

9. Lincoln Chafee is remarkable in that he was the only Repub in the Senate who voted Nay
Lincoln Chafee is a rare breed of Republican, and his kind will be sorely missed.

12. Indeed! The kind of Republican whom you might trust.
An extinct breed.

I'm proud to say that the DU tracked the whole debate. Lists of leaners were posted and many of us called and wrote to them. I called Chafee's office and asked them to take brief notes on my points. They were very obliging, even though I'm not a constituent, and even repeated key phrases back to me when I asked them to. Nice folks.

13. This may be, but I'd better guess the reason is that they fell for the freak'n lies.

Fear is a powerful ally to lies.
