Jesus Camp - The movie

Just finished watching this movie. I have to say it terrified and dismayed me. A truly horrifying look into the way evangelical Christians are brain washing their children!

all but openly praising those in other countries who take up arms in the name of their religion. While they of course feel that anyone else who believes in anything but their form of God is inferior there is clearly a sense of respect in the way the woman in the commentary speaks of religious fanatics of other religions. She sees that as a model for what American Christians should be like. They brainwash their children at a young age, that's what I intend to do here.

It will happen. They will be referred to in the media in other countries as "Bush loyalists".

I have already been acosted numerous times for my atheism. I have friends that have been forced off the road due to darwin fish stickers on their car. I have friends that have lost their jobs due to their atheism. We already cannot be elected to public office if we are open about our atheism. It is permissible to belittle atheists on TV on a regular basis with no public outcry.

So what do you mean give them time?

the 'camp' has since closed due to the "negative publicity." I just got the movie and will watch this weekend.

I grew up in a fundie family. I should rephrase: my own immediate family was not, but the auntie who took me to church was. It took a few months before my parents realized the sh*t they were spewing at me. I was then removed, but the family was hurt in the process. Lots of us ignore the others to this day - going on 25 years. It's awful, but I suppose necessary. My father always believed in applying reason and faith to life. I agree with him. Anyone who tells me I am wrong to actually think denies and belittles the mind God gave me, or so I have come to believe.

The good news is, back during the thick of it, I stumped the pastor on who Cain and Abel could marry, seeing they were Adam and Eve's kids. He turned as red as a beet and almost exploded. Count one for the unindoctrinated and/or curious! :-)

I have always been fascinated by how they can think what they do. Early and consistant brainwashing must be the key to their indoctrination.

problem is. These are people who are working on a different level than the rest of us. They play WAY out in front and are more than willing to devote their entire lives to brainwashing children of this generation to create a holy political and military army for the next generation and those to come. I just don't see how we can fight against that kind of fanaticism.

and WE MUST. Keep spreading the idea that an open mind is the only weapon we have.

I haven't seen this particular documentary, but I am sure it is similar to "Friends of God" which I saw on HBO recently....

the clear and very transparent brainwashing tactics these, frankly evil people, were using on them. Scenes in which children are crying because of the supposed religious experience they are having and others where they preach and spout material they are far too young to even begin to understand the true meaning of are the scariest.

I have HBO and with on demand I can watch the whole thing anytime. Find a way to watch this if possible.....

The problem might be with my computer being messed up, as I experience other seemingly inexplicable derangements on occasion. Probably time to reinstall the OS (WIN XP, Home), but that is a scarey thought for me. I'd rather buy that DVD instead! (It's about $20.)

It's a little jerky, since I have to step through each segment manually. That's okay. Right now, I'm on segment 13, and they're all worshiping that life-sized cut out of GWB. Later on, I'll dig out that Ted Haggard scene. THANX for that site! I may be up till dawn on it!
