What if God doesn't have ten fingers?
Have you ever showed up for an appointment only to realize it was the wrong day, week or month. It's an embarrassing situation to be in.

The crazies have focused on the Millennium as the time of the second coming.

What if God doesn't count in Base 10?

We count in base 10 because we have, at least the most of us, ten fingers, so it's natural to use the decimal system. Some alien civilization might count in base 6 or base 12.

We're holding a party and God doesn't show up. How embarrassing.

1. There are 10 kinds of people in the world...
Those who get binary and those who do not.

Personally, I believe that the Rapture and Apocalypse occured as predicted, on time and under budget, and that the Revelations of St. John are not a prophesy but a first hand account. We are all descendants of those who were left behind, which certainly goes a long way to explain the state of the world since then.

3. If there is a God, why would we understand anything about him/her/it?
What arrogance is it that it's even possible? What arrogance to think God would communicate with any human directly, or that we are actually created in God's own image? What makes anyone think God would be even slightly interested in humanity in the first place? And why, given the evidence, believe there is a God to begin with?

7. Well, an atheist would say there is no God, so the discussion is moot.
That isn't necessarily the same thing. I personally prefer Agnosticism - I don't know for sure and neither do you. That way, it doesn't matter who is right or wrong about God and we can focus on the things we know are here and now.

4. My first thought was Jerry Garcia, then I read your post.
Some of us think of him as God.

Missing a finger on his right hand.

I guess since supposed everlasting damnation or salvation is too serious to think rationally about people are willing to turn off certain areas of their brains.

Even Connor McCloud got sick of living in Highlander II and he was only 500 years old. Human cognition and memory is really not compatible with the vast past and future time span of the universe. Anything that would allow you experience such events would mean your humanity is dead anyway. Accept death.
