Yesterday we learned much of the "intel" we were fed was "feith-based". According to the news stories, Feith was offering criticism of real intel or offering an alternative interpretation or it was all just fiction. Although Feith's "reports" were not illegal - it was used as part of the White House media campaign to justify invading Iraq.
We know there were no WMDs. We know there was no connection between Saddam and 9-11. We know there was no connection between Iraq and Al-Qeada. We know there was no attempt by Saddam to buy "yellow-cake". And now we know the reason for invading Iraq was Feith-based, a work of fiction, and a pile of stinking lies.
Bush takes Responsibility:http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/02/09/iraq/main2452482.shtml"Asked if the president feels ill-served by subordinates who manipulated intelligence on which he based decisions and took the U.S. to war, Perino said the president takes responsibility and has taken steps to make sure that bad intelligence like this doesn't happen again, CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller reports. Fine, he takes responsibility - and then what? Stating you are taking responsibility and actually taking responsibility are two different things. Where is the accountability and where are the consequences?
In the run-up to the mid-term elections - then Minority Leader Pelosi stated IMPEACHMENT WAS OFF THE TABLE. Presumably this was to quell fears among Republicans that should Democrats take control that Impeachment would be on the table, and to a lesser degree to alleivate concerns should Bush be impeached we won't be left with Cheney-in-Charge.
Yet, in taking impeachment off the table we are left with what as a consequence? Send bush to bed without supper? Take away video-game priviledges?
I'm the Decision Maker and You're NotBush announced he will be escalating the Iraq War. He's the Decision Maker and we're not. There was a glimmer of hope in a NON-BINDING resolution which might rein in Bush - however the Senate has tied itself in knots over debating how to debate the debate. The House is reportedly going to proceed with a Non-Binding resolution.
A NON-BINDING resolution will have as much effect on Bush's plans as a light tap on the wrist. The time for niceties and gentle admonishments is long past.
Forgive the crudeness - but Bush and Cheney are pissing on Congress, and the reaction from Congress thus far is to thank Bush and Cheney for the shower.
Same Crap - Different SpellingThe same Feith-based crap we were fed in the run-up to invading Ira
Q is being recycled as justification for attacking Ira
N.
How can we be sure the intel we are receiving about IRAN is correct? Remember these are the same agencies which Bush and Cheney have blamed for being so wrong about Iraq.
We've been told if Bush attacks Iran, he will need to go to Congress first. And if Congress says no? Bush is the decider, he's the commander-in-chief and he'll do what he damn well pleases, because Congress doesn't have the spine or the balls to do their job.
Screw the Non-Binding ResolutionsImpeachment belongs on the table. Impeachment must be served on a platter. Bush and Cheney won't be stopped by non-binding resolutions and they won't be stopped by censures -- they can be stopped by IMPEACHMENT and REMOVAL FROM OFFICE.
