should end and that the Iraqis should just get on with their civil war. Engel then ended the report that the soldiers he talks to want the war to end now.

1. Of course they want this war to end. It's sad it took this war to show the
people in uniform that republicans (Henry Kissenger quote) treat the military as dumb stupid animals to be used for corporate interests...

2. That was on their broadcast last night as well.
My first thought was "there goes a couple of stripes' for that Sergeant. My second was "I'm grateful they're speaking out."

7. And my fear is that he might experience "friendly fire", It was wonderful that he spoke
out. He is a very brave man.

3. Majority of troops dissatisfied with handling of war; believe war was wrong
The Military Times newspapers published a massive new poll after questioning 6,000 randomly selected active-duty members of the Armed Forces. The results ran counter to much of the conventional wisdom -- barely one in three service members approve of the way the president is handling the war; a majority believe it was wrong to go into Iraq in the first place; and a plurality reject the notion of sending additional troops into the war.

6. That is outstanding. The Military Times is becoming a large critic of the war and
it will be interesting to see how they react when it comes to light that the Intel was deliberately manipulated.

4. What's There To Look Forward To?
One of the most idiotic "rationals" for continuing this invasion is we need to "stabilize" the country...then leave. As if the "insurgents"...meaning all the Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds who have lived in that land for thousands of years will morph into Americans (just like we expected the South Vietnamese to do). The armchair quarterbacks favoring the "surge" and the "bomb 'em to hell" are clueless to how inefectual our continued military presence is to the situation.

Our grunts on the ground in that quagmire know what they're doing is short-term and there's no real objective to this "mission" than to survive another day. The booosh regime has made this war for profit a test of wills now...they won't let anyone decide for the "decider" as to how and when to do things. If the voters yell withdraw, he's gonna "surge".

When they talk about troop morale, what we say or do is rarely seen or heard by many in the military. How can they? We're filtered from their radios and TVs. What demoralizes them is an inept top command that got them into that mess and continues to throw them into an ever worsening situation.

5. They'll have to wait for the political aspirations
of politicians to run it's course.

8. He also said maybe we can come back and help them once things stabilize
Naive, one could say, but this guy's heart and head are in the right places.
