It's Keith OLbermann - you moron!
Does anyone else run into people who, when you mention KO, pronounce his last name Obermann (not pronouncing the L)? Or is it just me? I'm talking about good, liberal people, who even if they don't watch KO on a regular basis, appreciate hearing, knowing about, seeing videos of his special comments and/or reading the transcripts.

Maybe this is just a pet peeve of mine, but boy does it irritate me!

9. Foliage
is pronounced FO-LEE-IDGE, not FO-LIDGE or even worse, FOIL-AGE.

My last name is Janes, and you would be surprised how many dough heads go ahead and change it for me on forms THAT I HAVE FILLED OUT in my own neat handwriting.

The decline of a language begins with punctuation, continues with abbreviation, and ends with consumption.

19. I feel your pain.
And Keith's for that matter. There are people who have known me for years who still can't be bothered to spell my first name right.

I also feel for people who have other people keep changing the spelling of their name to something THEY think is correct, when it's not. You doubtless get "James" instead of "Janes."

Other people are afflicted with what I call "Phantom S Syndrome," i.e., people tack an S onto their last name even though it doesn't have one. Celebrity examples: Christopher Reeve (who wasn't helped out by the fact that a guy named Reeves also played Superman), Sally Field, Donna Summer. I had a friend whose last name was Adam--she got "Adams" all the time.

20. Let me tell you about a medical professor.
This alleged prof at an alleged med school said AP-Nea, refusing to acknowledge that the root of the word was the green "pnea" which has to do with breath, and the "a" means "Not".

As in the commonly known condition "Sleep Apnea" in which a person stops breathing.

So it should be pronounced A-Nea with a silent P as in Pneumonia, but this witch knew everything because she was a faculty member.
