1. I'm sure it could be expanded to a sales receipt/bag check forum
Edited on Fri Sep-07-07 06:36 AM by MiniMe
There are a lot of stores that do this, Best Buy does it too. So does CostCo. You wouldn't want to leave anybody out.

edited for spelling

3. Ok people why are you fixated on the receipt...? HUH
The COP or POLICE OFFICER violated his rights don't you get it?

4. You're being sarcastic right?
First - you're making an assumption that this happened. We've only read from the blogger and have heard nothing from the police, the store or any of the witnesses.

Second - had the guy just show his receipt at the door this would have never occurred and he'd be home celebrating his niece's birthday instead of spoiling everything for his family over a stupid receipt

and Finally - Google the man's name. Turns out he's got some money to his name and yet he's accepting donations for his legal fees.

I'm thinking it's more of an internet scam that a travesty of his rights.

Edited on Fri Sep-07-07 08:10 AM by Demintheusa
all I know is if I'm not driving under Michigan law all you have to give an officer is your name, address and date of birth that's it. The cop and the store probably are not on DU anyway.

6. How about a TRUST forum, for everyone who is so upset that Circuit City doesn't TRUST them?
IMO, trust is between you and those with whom you have personal relationships. Not between you and stores, or you and your employer.

7. You don't trust stores to sell you good products?
you don't trust your employer to pay you and give you a retirement?

9. No, I don't. That's why I count on laws and written policies.
Who the fuck is dumb enough to base their business interactions on TRUST?

12. Now you're confused. Are you trusing the store, or are you trusting the law?
Edited on Fri Sep-07-07 08:28 AM by mondo joe
If you trust the store, you don't need the law.

Me, I need the law.

Hence I don't mince around crying "oh noeees, how dare the store think I might steal - they don't trust me like a parent des a sweet toddler!"

14. Inane. If you want to make commercial interactions about "trust", go ahead.
I don't. I keep my receipts and know the policies. Trust never enters into it.

18. What about it? If the officer was in the wrong - as I believe he was - it should
be handled appropriately. That's what the system is for.

21. I don't TRUST it either - that's why there are laws and systems in place. I also don't TRUST
the asshole who has posted his side of the story. Let's get to court and hash it out.
