Colorado's new "Democratic" governor fails first test of new administration
Sides with repukes and vetoes pro-union legislation.

Ritter vetoes House Bill 1072

DINO. Traitor. Enemy in the class war.

Less than three months since election and he shows his true RED colors.

4. I wrote him a much-too-civil letter
<excerpt>

Less than three months after working hard to help you and other Democrats win election, the euphoria has not only faded--regret has seeped in. Your veto of House Bill 1072 is an unconscionable betrayal of Colorado's beleaguered workforce and of basic Democratic values. Like a generation of politicians before you, you have put the narrow interests of a few wealthy individuals above those of tens of thousands of Colorado workers. Haven't the wealthy already been given enough? The concentration of wealth in this country is scandalous. I guess the ballot box is no longer a means of effecting meaningful political change in America or in Colorado.

I am majorly pissed off. Ritter's father was ablue-collar union member. Ritter is an ex-union member. He claims he has no problem with the bill, but objected to the process by which it was written and passed. (The repukes screamed bloody murder.) Gutless traitor.

9. Is this a bill that would have set up union shops?
"In an all-union shop, all employees are required to pay fees to the union whether or not they join. The fees are intended to cover the union's cost to represent the nonmembers."

I don't believe anyone should be compelled to join or pay for a union if they do not choose to do so. On the other hand, the government should not be regulating unions at all.

12. He did say it was about the process and not about the legislation, so...
Maybe it's just symbolic. Perhaps he'll let the businesses voice their concerns and then the legislature can ignore the businesses concerns and pass the same bill again and next time he'll sign it.

13. doesn't sound like it.
He promised during the campaign *specifically* to support this exact piece of legislation. The problems with the process to which he refers were attempts by the repukes to stall, prevent votes, to debate the bill in the media rather than in the legislature and ultimately to send a cabal of powerful repuke business owners to whine to the governor in person. He rewarded the repukes who made the issue partisan and rancorous by vetoing the bill. The lying bastard is in the pockets of the rich repuke business interests. It now appears he ran under false pretenses.
