OUTRAGE
I just can't get outraged over everything. I'm not outraged over some woman being told to cover up on an airplane. I'm not outraged over Circuit City- I avoid big box stores like the devil anyway, and where I live, that's easy to do. I'm not outraged about repuke spin- I expect it. I believe you have to prioritize outrage or it all becomes sort of meaningless and muddled.

I'm outraged over the war, over all those ghastly deaths, the refugees, the destruction.

Big box store security? Not so much.

14. I, for one, am outraged at your indifference.
I'll be starting a poll soon to see who agrees with me.

2. Agreed and Well Said.
Things seem to be a bit tense here of late. I know I have gotten a couple of good lectures and am finding the ignore list growing.

3. Prioritizing outrage kind of like triage.
Mine covers global warming, the war, Katrina,
outsourcing, privatization, and fascist oppression.

4. I sometimes get outrage fatigue
I really have to weigh the things that get me angry. Otherwise I start to feel overwhelmed and think that I should just turn off the cable and internet and look no further than my own yard for things to worry about.

6. I know just what you mean
And I must confess I was outraged last week when two of my chick got eaten by a weasel or a rat. I can handle that kind of outraage.

5. The health issue threads are the ones I cannot even click on
The outrage factor is too great. Someone not being able to get care that all other wealthy nations receive and many poor nations receive triggers my overload factor.

Shopping trivialities? Nope. Not on the register at all.

7. I Think Some Are Able To Process...
more outrageous activities than others. I also think that not everyone prioritizes their outrage in the same way.

8. I know what you're saying
But at this point I think people feel so helpless to stop the war (electing all those Dems has made such a difference -- NOT) that frustration gets vented over small, more personal battles people feel they can fight or win. I simply see it as symptomatic.

10. I choose my outrage.....................
just like I choose my battles. There are so many things daily that could cause outrage that it would be way too exhausting.

12. thanks for playing along with their game.....plays right into it..
lets pick our battles....

Prioritize your battles....

it really is all the same...just different degrees....whats important to one..may not be important to another..same goes with people being offended by things/words etc...but please don't negate what others feel is important to them...that just goes along with what they want the mass' to do...be divided and not united....the search for ultimate control starts out in small amounts/degrees and ends up bitting you on the a$$ when it's too late to change anything....

Those who give up freedoms/liberties for security...deserve neither.....who was it that said something to that effect?

please stop the maddness....some are trying, and then gettin beaten down because they are...by the very people that should come together to fight this maddness...it's not that rosie out there for the average human being! I am very lucky...I get to live paycheck to paycheck and in debt...but I am not that bad off...I still have the ability to do things others aren't so fortunate to do..

We all need to come together....so lets not put others down for something you may not feel is important to you...it may be to someone else...

where is the love people.....WHERE IS THE LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

15. You're making too big a deal about this
I'm not knocking what others are outraged about. Hey, if someone wants to be outraged about security at big box stores, that's their business. I'm just explaining how I feel.

20. see..now I am making a big deal about this....thanks.....
I appreciate your kind way of putting that.....

I must have misread your initial remarks....or maybe put my own thoughts into what you were saying...because it sounded like what those others were outraged about wasn't important...OH I see...it wasn't important enough for you...cool...when will it be important enough? that is a serious question.

There will never be a day without OUTRAGE....We have allowed it to go too far....there is simply way tooooo much to be OUTRAGED about...and too few to fight it...they get too exhausted....way too easy....but that is just my opinion....as was yours.

21. One of the crazy things
that really burned me out was the commutation of Scooter Libby's sentence. I wasn't expecting it and it took the wind out of my sails. Many people on the board were nonplussed. I thought my heart would disintegrate with grief. I didn't know I even cared until it got taken away. What a let down. I have huge outrage fatigue. And yet I see outrage and contempt, take the Republicans so far in their causes. Maybe we just don't do the look down your nose, pinch your face up like you re smelling shit, and spit out condemnation like rotten milk, like they can. I think of, Bill Clinton, and how the nation did not really care what went on, but the ability of the 'Project for a new America' manage to have him publicly humiliated, and impeached. In that, Bill Moyers Journal presentation with Bruce Fein and John Nichols, calls desperately to have Dem Leadership demonstrate some moral indignation about the destruction of our very constitution. If our Dem leaders can't inspire us to direct our anger and frustration in a meaningful manner, how can we vent our spleen, in a way that brings some results. It doesn't do that much good to bash your head against the wall so someone else will feel guilty or feel the pain. I think the collective helplessness to affect our National situation has depressed the whole country. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. :banghead:

22. bush never elected. what else is there?
the one, single, undeniable thing that has damaged this society beyond hope(?) and helped to criminally defraud the american people of their rights and money is the rightwing and the news/info mediums that promote the right and all that bullshit. In a liberal democracy like USA it should be fairly eassy to isolate the right by focusing on the lying liars in the media. Because the 'media' is so vast, and large parts of it is indeed liberal, the pigmedia gets to hide in plain sight. foxnews, cnn, the networks, the nytimes, the washpost, indeed most newspaper ed boards, plus reuters and ass press etc are all LONG TERM PROFESSIONAL LIARS devoted to defrauding the people (and that should be easy to prove, for example the way the pigmedia crucified carter for his 58 billion deficit in his last budget, while ignoring regans 200 billion deficit run throughout his 8 yeasrs, reagan doubled the nat debt in 8 years, or the pigmedia's assault on clinton for monica gate, and the huge investigation run by ken starr)...
if the way the dow jones reacted to the threat of peace or preplanned run up to a 'war' against Iraq
shows plainly that mr pig wanted 'war' regardless of excuse, and the entire charade which has now trapped the american people in a lose lose situation which will still be costing in fifty years, and they reaped enormous profits from the fraud.
