Bush, shrinks, and THE WEST WING. Is a doc treating Dubya?

WEST WING ran a few episodes where the president had sessions with a psychiatrist.

They had to sneak the shrink in to keep the press corps in the dark. All top secret-like.

It was a pretty good segment of programs.

Friends abroad think Bush is seeing a psychiatrist. Well, some of them think he is seeing a psychiatrist; others think he SHOULD see one.

There'd be thought disorders diagnosed and medications prescribed.

What do ya think?

doesn't mean he is getting them legally. And if he is getting professional help, it isn't working.

"To date, the patient has not appeared to respond to multiple psychotropic medications. ECT should be considered..."

It is a dire case after all.

If he has a doctor, then he needs to find another one. This one isn't helping. And if he is taking meds, the dosage needs to be adjusted. They aren't working, either.

logical, proving he is not delusional. That only leaves psychotic.

Treatable but not curable, etc.

I wonder what kind of life landscape Laura Bush sees when she looks around her and regards her husband's role in the real world. As a couple, these two don't generate much heat.

At times I take the dark view that he is manipulated by the nihilistic puppetmaster Dick Cheney. At others I see Bush himself as Hud with an entourage, recklessly adrift and unmoored from familiar psychological cues and like as not to betray the entire spectrum of History to force his limitations onto the stage, whether at the behest of oil interests or the Saudis or you name it, or just as his own freelance egogoblin.

On DU and elsewhere people note that there's no material for a legacy in the 6-8 years of this administration. I almost wish that weren't so, but believe it is so, and it's been very bad for all of us.

He has always been a "wing it" kind of guy, and no matter how badly he screwed up, there was always a henchman from Poppy's crew, ready to clean up after him.. Unfortunately for US, his recent "job" has also been his most spectacular flop, and this time around he apparently decided to NOT call in the clean-up crew..

Agree with you that we aren't hearing any clarion calls from the Bush Oval Office.

Certain psychiatric mediations have visible side effects, in addition to making one seem just stupid :rofl:

But even if he is, it isn't going to make one lick of difference. Read up on psychotics, and you'll find there really isn't anything that can be done to "fix" them.

Psychology works on the basis of the patient recognizing they have issues and are willing to learn how to become a more effective person and deal with the patterning that causes the issues. With a psychotic, they don't recognize anything being wrong and figure everybody else has the problem. Not them. So they see no point in psychotherapy and it doesn't work for them.

Bush is clearly on drugs. Some days he's lucid, others not, some days slurring speech... it's all there. The guy is an unfixable wreck.

SANE and unafraid people need to work to get this guy out of office and confront our neurotic Congress and get them to step up to the plate on impeachment.

Why the hell haven't we launched a serious all out campaign to go after Republicans and humiliate them into voting for impeachment?
