" Healing this country "
The first thing that comes to my mind when I constantly hear this phrase used is how on earth can this be done and what on earth are they talking about .

I consider all that is wrong right now and what would be the priorities .

I feel like I'm about to mentally colapse and soon .

I can't even imagine what healing this country would look like , it comes to me as an image of healing a ripped up beached whale with a box of bandaids and a staff of three people doing their best to drag the damaged whale back into the ocean .

Perhaps the fact that I am older and the new america I see so altered and changed does not appeal to me at all .

I can't stand talk or predictions of the 2008 presidential candidates so soon after the mid term elections , this reminds me of 2008 cars coming out in early 2007 when the bugs are not even worked out of the models out two years ago .

I don't know what to think anylonger , it seems to all revolve around the youth of the next generation and if you are past your 50's and don't have children then you are simply here and not considered .

I recall hands across american and save the world and farm aid during the 80's and all seem to have turned into ashes blown away by the wind as many ideals seem to do .

I recall the 60's and the peace movement and here we are once again waging wars with the threat of more war and it's 2007 and began in 1991 which really exploded in 2003 march .

So when people talk about healing this country I feel like throwing up or running through the streets on fire screaming .

Does it no make sense in order to heal this country that the first step is ridding the admin and then somehow pulling down the massive corporations who have broken the back of the economy and how would this be done and who would do it . Then in order to maintain this the avid consumer would have to lay off the buying sprees or we will be here in this state or outsourcing failure forever which is an entirely huge problem .

In the 57 years I've been around I have yet to see a healed nation but rather an accelerated downhill slide .

1. This old hippie feels the same way!
Sometimes I feel the weight of the lies of this administration pulling me down, like a physical weight. The light of truth needs to be shined on our government. Without a total "airing out" of the white house, I will feel no peace. Our peace starved generation needs some real peace. I will never vote for a candidate who does not promote peace.

2.  My wife woke this morning and brought up global warming .
Somehow this topic brought her back to the year 1972 and she began remembering all the things we used to do such as all the jewelry making people did and the candle makers as well as how each had their own clothing identity .

It was a simple time with art work being wide spread rather than the high tech mass production of meaningless products of today .

Thinking about those days made me depressed when I looked at what we have now . I suppose each generation goes through changes but somehow we seem to have gone to far too fast , at least this is the way I see it . Beside we have learned nothing about peace and alot more how to promote wars and ignorence . Sort of a hypnotized society we were always warned about in a science fiction sort of way and now it has become a reality .

3. Oh! How well I remember those times!
I took each article in the "Mother Earth News" to heart. I recycled everything that could be recycled, even small soap bits, candle bits, etc.. This age of consumerism has baffled me and left me in the dust.
