Did Obama avoid the Tavis Smiley black summit on purpose?
I find it strange that Barack Obama decides to do this Presidential bid on the same day as the Tavis Smiley forum, even though the forum was scheduled a year in advance. I find this fishy.

Why can't he wait until Monday, or last Friday to announce? Who annonces on a saturday? And, why did Obama go to the home of Abraham Lincoln, who didn't even actually free the slaves, beyond the bogus history.

This is not my idea. Cornel West made this point just now at the forum.

Seems Obama wants to suck up to the white voter. Sad.

You guys slay me.

And this, hard on the heels of the DU "complimenting" him for how white he was.

Poor Obama - can't win for losing.

EDIT: Wrong heels.

8. What fate? Performing two of the most important and difficult actions...
... in US history? Being generally acknowledged as one of the greatest 2 or 3 Presidents ever?

Or, after all of that, meeting with an untimely demise?

Seems to me like some things are being unjustifiably overshadowed by others.

10. Or more politically correctly: he is not African American enough
A charge I think is ridiculous, but is actively being whispered in some camps.

4. Tough call....
Friday is usually a data dump day news wise. Saturday will shake up the news cycle in what is generally a slow news day. Most Americans don't realize that Lincoln didn't actually free the slaves...they remember him for the emancipation proclamation and all the good that he stood for. I think he needs to court every voter in every way possible although I'd love to see him doing a lot more African American voter forum activities

would be so refreshing to have someone literate in the white house. I don't care if the man is red, blue and white striped, I love him. But, I like DesertedRose, fear for his safety!

13. His presence would be so helpful world wide...
It would show the world that Americans aren't as dumb and bigoted as the 2004 election seemed to show. It would show that we are open to a person of color other than pasty white and southern to be our pres. And...you have to admit, that guy could read the phone book to you and it would sound interesting

15. HERE:
FEB 10 ANNOUNCEMENT TO TAKE PLACE IN SPRINGFIELD, ILLNOIS WHERE LINCOLN LIVED AND WORKED

SPRINGFIELD, Ill.(AP) Barack Obama plans to formally launch his campaign for president in Springfield, the city where Abraham Lincoln lived and worked before being elected the nation's 16th president.

The announcement would come around Lincoln's birthday and help underscore Obama's hope of positioning himself as a uniter who can rise above partisan bickering.Obama, like Lincoln, served in the Illinois General Assembly in Springfield.

Obama said Tuesday that he has formed an exploratory committee to study a presidential bid and will announce his final decision on Feb. 10.

16. This poster probably has no idea of who Tom Joyner is but......
Obama calls in to that show frequently. He called in last week and explained why he chose that date and why he wasn't able to make it. Both Tom and Tavis understood and they were actually supposed to have a video hookup and he was going to address the summit. When Al Sharpton ran he didn't make his announcement at the covenant.

This poster is really trying to stir the pot with ignorance. The panelist at that covenant even said not to get caught up trivial accusations.

Why do people always do this foolish stuff?
