Please excuse my crankiness this evening; it's been a rough day
In addition to the BetrayUs spectacle and the arrests of several of my friends in DC, the Moving America Backwards people were here in KC today. Melanie Morgan and her jolly group of war mongers are on their way to DC to protect the veterans' monuments from all the dirty hippies marching next Saturday. http://www.moveamericaforward.org/

They stopped here to visit our WWI Museum and Memorial. And they held a press conference.

Yesterday a couple of us went down to the museum to check it out and plan a welcome for the war mongers. Imagine our joy when we found that the museum was closed on Mondays!

One of us went back late last night to write messages on the sidewalk at the memorial to greet the war mongers. (We have been blogging with sidewalk chalk - works great and wears off without defacing the surface it is written on.) So in the middle of the sidewalk blogging, the blogger was busted and sent home. No arrest but the message was not finished. So the blogger went back very early this morning and wrote KC SAYS IMPEACH BUSH AND CHENEY FOR WAR CRIMES.

So the war mongering bus riders arrived and they were met by TV cameras and ONE counter protester. ONE.

The sidewalk blog had been erased. The TV cameras captured the red white and blue war mongers. And our ONE counter protester was cursed at. I won't bother to go into the number of times we have sent out press releases for rallies and NO press has bothered to come. The rule here seems to be war mongers = story while anti-war events are ignored.

To add to a day of bad news, it was announced today that Cheney is coming here next Monday. In the middle of the day, when the vast majority of our activists are at work. :grr:

Then I get home and find that some of the activists I respect the most in DC were not only arrested today but injured by the thugs er I mean cops who arrested them.

And to top all that off, Code Pink was dressed inappropriately.

Shitty day. Maybe tomorrow will be better. September 11th. Oh yeah, never mind.

4. Thanks I will get over it
I expected the BetrayUs report to be bad. But I didn't expect Rev Yearwood to be injured. That really blows.

3. Transitions. Things seem bad right now because
situations are coming to a head. The polarization between the patriotic Americans and the fascists is complete. Now watch the wrong side unravel. It will happen soon. Our side, the truthful side, is getting its baptism of fire, something they tried to avoid with peaceful protests, but it wasn't meant to be. They will emerge victorious. I am pretty sure.

5. Sweet Cleita, you don't know how much I hope you are right.
Today has been a "baptism of fire" for me, and especially depressing, so I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, hope you are right.

History tells me that things will get much worse before most of the sheep wake up.

7. Monday is the traditional museum day-off.
That's when they put up shows, because museums have to be open on Sundays. Everyone else has gone to work on Monday. Things get shipped to the museum and uncrated on Monday.

Assume any museum is closed on Monday! (Though, you can always give them a call.)

11. Right. In fact, there was a wonderful animation short entitled "Closed Mondays"
from the 70s, about the power of art.

12. I wish I could cheer you up
I am so proud of you all. Every one who sticks their neck out in these fascist times. You all are my heroes.

How is the Rev doing? And what does "Code Pink was dressed inappropriately" mean?

Keep your spirits up.

They were out in full force criticizing them here yesterday.

Haven't heard an update on the Rev. I will post when I hear.
