Happy 9-11, everybody!
Edited on Tue Sep-11-07 08:45 AM by BushOut06
Hope everyone is having a great 9-11 today!

Hmmm...weren't the rethugs the ones after 9-11 saying that we should go about our lives like normal, not cowering in fear? Of course, they didn't really mean that, did they? Fuck them. I'm planning on having a great day today, hope the rest of you do too!

PS - I'm sure the very title of this thread will be enough to make any lurking freeper's head explode in rage!

1. It's my birthday. Fuck them for making it the day they relive fear in the name of remembrance.
Edited on Tue Sep-11-07 08:53 AM by YOY
It's just the calendar day they found their new bogeyman.

4. You should be scared shitless, and give up all your civil rights for
the cause...the Terrorists wanted to change America and the GOP has helped them do that, every step of the way. We are no longer nearly as free as we were on 9/10/01, thanks to the steady erosion of the US Constitution since 9/11. We are being lied to and spied upon by our own government.

We have become a nation of COWARDS, willing to give up our freedom and liberty, because we've been continually terrorized by foreign terrorists and their willing accomplices in the leadership of the GOP. On 9/11 the talking heads on TV said that the terrorists were seeking to change America, by using terror as a weapon and a means...it's working, like a charm to this day, thanks to Rove, Bush and Cheney!

5. Woo Hoo!
Happy 9/11!

Let's celebrate with rabid jingoism, xenophobia, fear, loathing, and robotic authoritarian submission to the government!

:woohoo:

7. 9/11 IS cause for celebration--of what we raised out of its ashes
Edited on Tue Sep-11-07 09:53 AM by rocknation
Six years ago, who would have believed that Bush's approval rating would drop from ninety to twenty five percent? Or that a fifty-state strategy could give the Dems Congress? Or that there would be national liberal radio network? Or that Olbermann would overtake O'Reilly? Or that people would make movies trying to attack the effectiveness of Michael Moore's movies? Or that Daily Kos would ever become anything more than a blog? Indeed, who would have believed that DU would be a top ten political Web site?

So, yes, I remember 9/11 and mourn. But I also remember 9/11 and get pissed off at the Bush monarchy that brought it on. Then best of all, I remember 9/11, roll up my sleeves, lock arms with my fellow-DU-ers, and jump into the ring for the next round!

9. why must you write Limbaugh's material?
Edited on Tue Sep-11-07 09:31 AM by Marnieworld
Or O'Reilly's Hannity's etc. I don't even get the point or joke you are attempting to make but I can just hear us all being painted with this nonsense because of it.

Here's a thought for you? A whole lot of people died that day. There are a whole lot of people here. Chances are that there will be someone today to see your headline and it will hurt them because they had someone they loved or knew DIE that day. There are many here who live very close to these areas of these events, fear them happening again everyday. they also don't need to be mocked. Yes, the GOP politicizing it was wrong but we are much to close to that day to make light of it to prove some point.

On edit I see that you live in Florida. Let me tell you if you lived a lot closer to NYC, knew more people involved, been in or grew up with the towers it would still haunt you.

So be aware that "The Jersey Girls" might be here reading, or airline employees that could have been on those flights, or someone who just was late to work that day and all of their friends died. I can't have a happy Tuesday because of them.

11. Give me a break...
Please, don't try to make me out to be some uncaring asshole. The whole point of my post is that while the events that happened six years ago were tragic, walking around on eggshells on this date seems rather absurd. Today is a good day, I'm not going to allow the rethugs and their climate of fear control how I feel today.

As far as Limbaugh or any other RWers using this for material, I couldn't care less. The day that I worry about what some bloated fascist windbag thinks about what I think or say is the day that I become a sheeple, and I'm not about to let that happen.

14. I call it like I see it
You said "Happy 9-11". It's a very insensitive phrase. I am sure you wouldn't say it to someone that you knew was affected. I merely pointed out that you are actually doing that. Sure let's not be afraid, let's not surrender to propaganda but let's not be mocking of that day either. Maybe in 60 years not not 6. Be grateful that you have a choice in how to feel today but others are not happy at all.

For many of the families of 9/ll victims, they don't have burial sites to visit. Instead this is how they remember - collectively, I might add - and the media is going to continue to cover it in some fashion or another for a while, I suspect.

I lost and nearly lost people six years ago. I don't give a care what the OP's intentions were: the effect is painful to me.

16. So sorry for your loss
I can only imagine what it must be like to have something so private for you be connected to such a public event. Many of us who have lost someone on other days of the year in other circumstances mark the anniversary as best we can. To have it thrown in your face everywhere you look, in every type of media and conversation must be very difficult every year for you.

10. I am sorry it happened but
I have moved on. These yearly reminders and the stupid Osama tapes remind me of the movie The Village. I refuse to live in fear and I gave up on worrying about the Boogyman when I reached seven years old.
