Who's watching this MSNBC replay of 9/11/01?
They are airing their coverage from that day in real time. Fascinating to see this in retrospect. Katie Couric keeps missing the ball while Matt Lauer tries to to direct her attention to the fact that that Tower 1 just collapsed before their eyes. Tom Brokaw speculating about who might have done it, what it means geopolitically. Katie interrupting to report wild rumors (bomb at the State Dept). Anyone watching this?

3. I'm DVR'ing it. I never saw it "live".
I was at work, listening to it on the radio that morning.

I find the first account coverage fascinating in an historical perspective.

5. No, I don't really give a shit about 9/11. Other than the fact that I believe the truth will never
come out. I think that it is a shame the way this country will honor lies for now and for ever.

My gut tells me that PNAC had something to do with 9/11 because their in their own words they said that the people of this country would not go along with them unless we had another Pearl Harbor.

The next thing after 9/11 we follow the PNAC plan into war in the Middle East.

6. No, I already saw it.
I see what you mean about interesting aspects in retrospect, but I just don't want to wallow in it again. I'd rather hear about today's news.

8. I did. Andrea Mitchell at 9:22 AM: "Osama bin Laden"
She named him again at 10:05.
Coric did a fine job, as did everyone at NBC before
Brokaw showed up and kept telling us who he was over and over.

18. Smartest observation Andrea Greenspan ever made.
That stuck out from the rest of the coverage like a flashing police light. NBC did OK< but I have to agree with another poster to this thread: Couric was way off her game that morning.

9. I'm watching...I have it at home and have watched it on
several occasions.

I also watch my tape of the Kennedy Assassination as it happened from NBC...first few minutes are missing since they didn't start the recorder.
However, there are audio checks of the news break.\

It is, for me, captivating...but I absolutely understand why some are disinterested or angry that it's shown.

this is a tribute to the lack of efficacy of the US to find these perpetrators NO MATTER WHO THEY MAY BE AND WHERE THEY MAY BE.

11. Watching from an investigative reporter's perspective and an forming my tinfoil hat
This is what I have noticed so far:

- the NBC reporter who was at the Pentagon opposite of where the "crash" was originally reported that there had been an explosion. He was looking across at the other side and never mentioned seeing a plane fuselage in the courtyard. Only refers to this incident as an explosion

- a reporter from the Whitehouse said that they had seen a large plane with all white markings flying over the city, but that had disappeared. They were speculating it was a 'government' plane. This was only mentioned once.

- Sweet Kate mentions repeatedly that 'intelligence sources' say that there was no warning.

19. I am across the street from the WTC site right now.
Move on? That's a little heartless. I was in lower Manhattan on that day but did not see it on TV as I did not have cable and the transmissioin towers were on top of the WTC so I had no TV at all, just radio. So it was fascinating to see it, in light of what we know now.

16. Saw it some years ago at televisionarchive.org -- Couric was clueless
That morning, I was at the breakfast table listening to the Howard Stern Show (I know, very un-PC) -- they actually did a better job than the networks did, even warning drivers to avoid downtown Manhattan. I turned my kitchen TV to CNN (closed captions on). Most of that day, I was glued to either CNN or BBC News 24.

26. yes it is
but it was so weird to see them not comprehending what they were seeing - well Katie didn't. Matt kept saying, can we see that tape again, I think the tower just fell down and she was so busy trying to be in charge that she cut off both him and Brokaw and missed the forest for the trees. It happened right before their eyes and they didn't see it. I'm down here today - bagpipes, tons of cops and firemen - a lot of them are in the bars now. Lots of tourists. My friend who lost her husband did not come in today and now she's upset that she didn't but at some point you have to stop, I think.

29. It was clear
that Katie was not able to process what was happening in front of her eyes. That is not because of any lack of intelligence, or any other such thing. It just wasn't clicking.

The only person really on the ball was Jim M at the Pentagon.

From a historical perspective, it's interesting. Particularly in that I doubt the coverage they "replay" isn't edited somewhat.

I pulled it out and looked at it exactly once. The creepiest part was a phone interview with James Baker- who just happened to be handy and available to talk to CNN or whoever- where he was going on about "of course, this means that we will have to sacrifice some of our civil liberties". Of course. :eyes:

Yeah, they were slobbering and drooling at the prospects for shitting all over the U.S. Constitution within minutes of the towers being hit.
