Jesus, What is wrong with some kids in the US?
Edited on Tue Sep-11-07 06:36 PM by Greylyn58
The original story happened Aug 29... here is the link.

http://www.ksat.com/news/14008907/detail.html

And this is the follow-up story.

http://www.ksat.com/news/14087114/detail.html

I'm not going to try and link violence on TV or in video games to this story, but My God, what could be so wrong with children that they could do something like this. I am just sick to my stomach.

I'm not a violent person, but if that was my dog and they did that to him, well....:grr:

I'm gonna go hug my baby now.

1. Animal cruelty in Texas is training ground for TX governorship
if you can't even beat a dog to death....how the hell can you keep up the record number of death sentences?

2. That kind of violence is learned at home
and not from TV or video games.

4. I tend to agree
maybe the way I phrased my statement didn't make that clear.

10. Either learned at home or through neglect.
These may be children who have no values instilled in them. They cannot find value in the animal because they do not value themselves. They do not value themselves because their parents do not value them.

San Antonio news always makes me ill. It is always full of gory stories.

3. Sounds awful
Sorry, I just can bear to read it.

I have six foster kittens ready to go to new homes, and so it would bring too many thoughts into my mind to read.

I have always said that if anyone harms or kills my pets, they had better watch their back. And that happened several years ago when a feral cat I was caring for (and took to the vet for shots and neutering) was killed by my neighbor (President of Oregon Hunting Association).

He admitted it and I never asked him how. But I told him if my dog was harmed, which he could have accessed out of my back yard, he would be very dead and cold, and I meant it.

5. "punished to the full extent of the law". Well, I say screw that...
Take the little bastards to the roof of the courthouse and throw them off.

If any of the little snots survive the first trip down, haul them back to the roof.

6. Horrible
Absolutely horrible, I wonder where these monsters got the idea from what their backgrounds are that taught them that this was alright. Someone needs to look at their home lives and their parents....

7. TRUST me (being a Texas native)
one thing about San Antonio for example which is very close to Seguin is they have very poor education about properly caring for animals. Stray animals run amok as people don't spay and neuter their pets. Roadkill is quite common. dogs with mange running around starving, cats everywhere (no this is not an exaggeration). So some stupid fuckheads showing their fuckheadedness is not a surprise to me. I actually get quite disgusted when I go home to visit and see so much animal cruelty. So many people down there don't have any respect for animals.

8. They treated the dog like Bush treats the military.
But, unlike these kids, there will be no punishment.

13. Till they're 19...
and then what? Let them out?! Animal abuse is a huge red flag for mental illness. Lock these kids up in a facility and keep them there.

What if they had gotten away with it this time? What if the next time they came across a toddler or a small child in a backyard? I doubt they would consider a baby "human" enough to not harm. Where are the parents and what are they saying? I'd be crying my eyes out if my son even stole a dog, much less this... It reminds me of those disturbed kids who put a puppy in the microwave this spring.

And my dog.. My dog and I are inseparable. His head is resting on my feet now--I'd just lose it. I just can't fathom the level of apathy here. These are young teens like the young men we're sending to war right now--no wonder there are so many atrocities being committed.

Who can look into these eyes and do something like that?

16. That was my response when I read the story
So...they are going to let them back on the streets? What then? Something is bad wrong with these boys and they need to find out what?

Normal, feeling human beings don't treat living creatures like this.

19. "animal abuse is a huge red flag for mental illness" -- did'ja know that the Chimperor used to blow
up frogs with firecrackers when he was a boy:

«`We were terrible to animals,' recalled Throckmorton, laughing. A dip behind the Bush borne turned into a small lake after a good rain, and thousands of frogs would come out. `Everybody would get BB guns and shoot them,' Throckmorton said. `Or we'd put firecrackers in the frogs and throw them and blow them up.'»

Kristof made plain that «we» explicitly included George W. Bush, and that George W., the Safari Club International «Governor of the Year» in 1999 for his support of trophy hunting, was the leader among the boys who did it.

lovely, huh?

Animal abuse is one of the principal signs/forecasters of antisocial personality disorder. Yeppers, W IS a psychopath...

the man is a loon and unfortunately he's taking us all along on his psychopathic adventure.

15. That violence is all over TV...and if your kids don't get it out on Video Games
then they take it out elsewhere. With a Government that's out of control and sports stars who gain noteriety over their various needs to act out then what can you expect.

I could hope that things would be better and kids wouldn't act out what they see but then there will be hundreds of DU'ers who will go at me and say this is "isolated" and that these kids had "Fundie Parents" and it's all due to those "religious people."

So..what else is there to say about this horrendous act. The kids are mentally ill and "social services" should give them counselling?

17. This is horrible. So often animal cruelty is a precursor of cruelty
to humans who are seen to be weaker than the abuser. My opinion is that these boys need serious psychiatric evaluations. This behavior sounds sociopathic.

The ages of these 3 boys horrorfies me. What could have happened in their young lifes that twisted them. Made them think it was accetable to commit such a disgusting act?

They need serious help.
