LTTE: Just as McCain was shut off from world while POW, he's shut off from the human tragedy of Iraq
I am baffled by Sen. John McCain's certitude on winning the war in Iraq, and wonder if he ever has experienced times of panic that he could be wrong.

On his Sunday TV program, George Stephanopoulos questioned McCain on his campaign "surge" strategy that emphasizes a push for staying the course, to which he responded simply: "I have to do what I believe is right, and what's best for the country."

Has doubt ever entered McCain's mind whether his determination to prolong the agony of war for an elusive victory, is good for the country?

Perhaps if we can forget the senator's grumbling over Democrats he says are "losing" the war by insisting on troop withdrawals, he could enlighten us on what it is that we are losing and what victory means to him.

What are we surrendering, senator, oil fields and permanent bases?

Just as he was shut off, while imprisoned for five years in a Vietcong jail, from the realities of war that devastated South Vietnam and shattered countless of American and Vietnamese families, McCain seemed to be shut off from the human tragedy of Iraq.

Every battle, every life destroyed needlessly is a testimony of Vietnam. There is no military victory. - Colette Jenkins, Anthem AZ
