March today in Kansas City - pictures
We marched in Overland Park, KS from a park to Senator Sam Brownback's office.

Listening to speakers before the march

The Recruiter puppet and one of the AFSC Cost of War flags

The front of the march

Along the march

In front of Brownback's office

The police were there to 'protect' us

4. It was interesting - we were in the heart of red state hell
but most people just drove on by. We got quite a few honks and a few fingers but the vast majority just kept on driving. Going shopping I guess.

12. In the KC metro area, most drivers are oblivious to other cars on the road
much less anything else, so the reaction doesn't seem that odd.

20. I love this one because you can see how deeply every kind of person
feels about this. Really nice shot.

I put up mine here in Hissyspit's thread.

I don't think we had anything going on here today, at least not that i heard of. I'm looking forward to the 10/27 UFPJ marches when we will coincidentally be in San Francisco. I can't wait to photograph that one. :)

To their credit, Overland Park is not a liberal community. Great job, everyone. Nice to see pics of the old neighborhood, too.

18. Were many agreeing with you?
Most of the conservatives I know are sick of Iraq too.

We used to live next to the mall, off Bluejacket. Great neighbors!

19. More agreed than disagreed
But most just drove on by. We get far better receptions in KCMO.

13. darn...I forgot about this
Edited on Sat Sep-15-07 07:06 PM by Neecy
I was in OP today, too. I worked as a volunteer for Catherine's Place at the chocolate festival at the convention center and my favorite moment was spotting a 12 year old or so kid in the crowd wearing a NOT MY PRESIDENT shirt with a picture of Bush on it. People were giving the kid thumbs up left and right (and so did I).

Did anyone from Roberts' office talk to you guys? I suspect I know the answer to that one.

Edit: Oops, I see you went to Brownbacks' office. I KNOW I know the answer now!
