Twenty-three towns take up Bush impeachment resolution
Twenty-three towns take up Bush impeachment resolution
February 11, 2007

NEWFANE, Vt. --At least 23 communities will weigh in on the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq and the impeachment of President George W. Bush at town meeting next month.

Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan, known for camping outside of President Bush's ranch after her son died in Iraq, will tour Vermont early next month to promote the resolution.

She'll be joined by Newfane Select Board member Dan DeWalt, who is credited with launching the effort to get towns to vote on the impeachment issue last year.

"Impeachment has more support this year than it did last year," DeWalt said. "The situation has taken a nightmarish turn for the worse since we first raised the question in Newfane."

2. and this week the Vermont leg is starting a debate on the Iraq War
The first three weeks of the session were concentrated on global warming. We've had some interesting folks testifying on both subjects; Bill McKibben and Peter Galbraith, to name just two.
