I have no idea whether Condolezza Rice is a lesbian. Nor, quite frankly, do I particularly care. She has never said anything homophobic or disparaging towards GLBT people.

2. True, but

neither has she spoken against the homophobic policies of the Republican party.

I don't care what her sexuality is either. I do care that we have politicians who acquiesce to evil....whether they are gay or straight.

That is confusing. Isn't "Progressive" a sub term for "Liberal"?

It seems to me that Ms Rice is an opportunist. I have never viewed her as a RWinger. She was offered a job with Poppa Bush & she snapped it up. Then Busholini took a liking to her & elevated her into the Big Time, where she has been useless.

She had to grow up a bit and start acting more mature when Bush ran out their resident babysitter, Powell. Forced into his place, she started favoring diplomacy more and Cheney-like hollow bluster less. But of course by then she was working surrounded by the diplos at Foggy Bottom rather than the hard corps ideologues in the West Wing. Never a strong intellect, she was easily swayed to mainstream (ie, nonmoronic) conservative foreign policy thinking.

But she was always a neocon and will always be one. It's just in her present job, she's being forced into occasional spats of sanity.

If you read the article, Bean offers an explanation for the shared housing with Rice:

"Bean explains this to Kessler by saying that she had some medical bills that drained her financially years ago, and Rice and Blacker helped her out by buying the house with Bean."

I think that the real story here is that Rice is a member of a political party that has a careless disregard for people with medical bills.
