The Republicans know Hillary Clinton is a land mine waiting to be stepped on
Have you ever seen a campaign with so many in the opposition party fawning over the other's candidate?

Something isn't right, and we should address it NOW and not after we're locked in. Why is every Republican pundit -- in fact, even the President -- coming out and praising Hillary Clinton? No trash talking, no "campaigning." Hell, there seems to be more unity for Clinton among the Republicans than there is among her own party.

That should tell you something. What that is, I'm not sure yet. But something just isn't right here.

Or, maybe it IS "right."

1. So she's a landmine. So they step on her.

And they blow up and that's bad?

Just asking.

Oh, and btw...I created that avatar you're using, almost two years ago. Glad to see it's still being used. The blue paper clip still draws traffic to that page of my web site, calling for solidarity against BushCo!

9. I fully expect it, but this isn't at all meant to be flame bait.
It's very serious. Have you EVER seen the other party praise the opposition candidate the way the Republicans are praising Hillary? Does it cause you to pause and ask "WHY?" If not, it sure as hell should.

5. They are convinced that Clinton is sufficiently hated . . .
to mobilize their otherwise dispirited base, and hence put 2008 close enough to steal again. They don't think that any of the 'Lican candidates can draw close enough by themselves, nor that the other Dem candidates will enrage rightwing partisans sufficiently.

I happen to think they're waaaaaay overrating the "I hate Hillary" factor, but that's just me.

27. The stealing part worries me plenty . . . they'e beavering away . . .
on new ways to flip votes each and every day.

Call me Pollyanna, but I don't believe the Dems have secret workgroups strategizing how to hack that system, or screw up that precinct, or purge that other list of voters -- and I'm sure the 'Licans have hundreds.

But candidate-wise, the 'Licans are in deep doo-doo. Let's see: Mr. Fake 9/11, Mr. Empty Suit, Mr. Madman Emeritus, Mr. Phone-it-in Thespian, and a sack of mixed nuts and fruits.

Election fraud notwithstanding, the 'Licans are screwed at the top of the ticket and tottering everywhere else.

But they can still steal 2008 and pretend it's a mandate.

And THAT makes me nervous.

isn't black and that is good enough for them at this time. She scares them because of her name recognition, fund raising, and political skills. Many are nostalgic for the peace and prosperity of the Clinton years. Not sure she can deliver, but that is the perception.

Remember Mitt is plastic and Mormon. The evangelical base will not be happy having to vote for him.

Rudy is a one trick pony and Hillary or Obama will hit hard at his 9-11 "hero" propaganda. Without that all he has is his bald pate.

Freddy is old, sick, a womanizer, and lazy.

Hillary is the devil they know.

Prediction-

Veep will be Hagel or Clark. Hagel would be a masterful stroke. Clark would bring the South and military into play. Both are pretty faces and some will vote for them even without knowing why. Clark is not so tall and would not tower over her.

10. The Hate Hillary Club...
I assume, have no idea how desperate they're beginning to sound. One of these days, and I doubt it, they may, I say may, come up with something of substance to bitch about. Till then, I'll continue to wade through the inanities in order to read a meaningful thread or two. Then, I'll sit back and watch the fireworks, as Hillary Hate Club member's heads start to explode. The festivities should begin around five minutes after the primaries. I love a good celebration. Thanks.

What's the theory? That's why I posted.

Why are the REPUBLICANS more in unison with their support of their OPPONENT than we are?

Posting cute sub-lines with "nt" at the end might make you think you've addressed the issue, but you're just avoiding reality. I'm not making this up...it's real, it's happening. Sit back, Mookie. Make fun, deny.

I'm looking for actual answers.

She's the easiest Dem to attack--count on a 180-degree turn if she should get the nod. And if she were to win, she'll be easiest to control via the DLC. At any rate, there's no way the Rethugs are going gently into that political good night...unless they KNOW that there isn't going to be a 2007 presidential election...

Have you looked at the field of Republican candidates lately? Is it any wonder they love Hillary Clinton?

That's the whole freakin' point!

If your OPPONENTS love your candidate more than many in your own party do, shouldn't that be a red flag for SOMETHING? Don't you want to know why they love her so much? If you don't care about this, maybe you're not the type of person who should be voting! We need INFORMED voters, not just another flock of sheep.

Understand, this is NOT a "Hillary bashing" thread. I don't like or dislike her at this point. In fact, as I was discussing with my son last night, who'll cast his first presidential vote in 2008, I'm actually beginning to like her. She's grown, become a better candidate. But when I see Pat Buchanan and George Bush praising her, red flags pop up all over the place for me.

If they don't for you, too, you're not paying attention.

33. I can decide what I want to take seriously or not
I know she has many faults. She cozies up to corporations, and seems to be a dyed in the wool ambitious person, who wants the presidency for her own glory. However I can look at her pros and cons myself. I don't need to watch how the republicans treat her. Some people have said women are unelectable, black people are unelectable, Hispanic people are unelectable, Kucinich is unelectable, on and on. Of course the republicans are going to try to influence our game, but that does not mean they know more than us.

39. Wow. You're really missing the point, aren't you?
OF COURSE you can make your own decisions. No one is denying that. My point is entirely different.

You go ahead and make your own choices, fine. But to do so while completely dismissing the strategery of the opposition is lunacy. It means you're ignoring crucial information being placed directly before you. No one is telling you to base your voting decision upon the advice of the Republicans. What I am saying is, you MUST question why the Republicans are so in support of Hillary. Is it because they think she's just one of them? Is it because they think she can't win? WHY?

I'm asking questions. You're equating asking questions with giving in to the Republicans. I simply want you -- and every other Democrat -- to go into the booth as thouroughly informed as possible. Dismissing the Republicans right now, while they're praising our front runner to high heaven, is bad. It means you've ceased questioning. That's very bad.

If I told you you were right in line with all of Pat Buchanan's other pronouncements, wouldn't that make you step back and question your beliefs? Or Pat's? Why are you so willing to dismiss all these Republicans praising Hillary Clinton now? It's irresponsible, imho.

32. You may be right
I think they seriously underestimate her. She's a Clinton and will not be the least bit afraid of getting down in the mud with them. That was John Kerry's big mistake - to take the high ground when the Scumbucket Veteran's for Lies began their attack. Besides all the dirt on her has been out there for years. I doubt there's any new material for them to dredge up.

Besides, look what happened to the darling little RWer who ran against her in 2000. He just ended up looking foolish trying to take on a woman who was a whole lot smarter than he.

I don't know who I'm going to back in the primaries but I won't be making my decision based on who I think the Repugs want.
