We're down to nothing but stems and seeds

My 83 year old mother got a new address book. My sister saw it and said "cute, but its so small. How are you going to put everyone in it?"

Mom replied: "At my age, I don't have many left. I'm down to just the stems and seeds."

Not only were we a tad shocked she knew that term (she's with it...but still) but that she pulled it out. It's a great old term that needs reviving.

And of course, I couldn't help but think of our political leaders. . . we're down to nothing but stems and seeds.

just saw Bill Kirchen (former Commander Cody guitarist) this past weekend... and sang along to a kick-@ss version of "Seeds and Stems".

but my generation, all us cousins, were smoking pot. So my mom and her 3 sisters "scored" some dope, back in the day, and tried it to see how/if dangerous it was. It must have been late 60s early 70s. They concluded it wasn't as dangerous as booze.

I think that is responsible parenting. They didn't tell us about it until MANY years later. It was illegal and they didn't want to give us some green light.

My mom is VERY liberal, I could tell you stories! (She loves to get a rise out of her conservative Mormon bridge playing friends by saying she's an atheist. She's a HUGE Maher and Jon Stewart fan.) And my dad was a republican until Reagan. Then he became the most radical of all of us. He died 4 years ago next month. I miss him. And am delighted to still have my mom.

Make tea from the stems and plant the seeds. Our misleaders are totally worthless.

Your mother is way cool. Stems and Seeds is an excellent term for what we have. Not squat!
