Why we invaded Iraq

Bush needed a war that would last until November of 2003 to get himself reelected and Afghanistan wasn't giving him one that was either hot enough or could provide heavy fighting long enough to do the trick.

When you think about it the same reason applies to why the current crop of would be Democratic Nominees (with the exception of Kucinich) are in no great hurry to assure the world they would end the war. Its a campaign prop for them as well. Everyone is playing one side or the other of this war with each having their own reason for it to continue. George Bush could deflate the entire Democratic Party tomorrow by announcing victory and a 90-day pullout schedule.

bush is a vicious little bastard. he hated saddam hussein. he wanted revenge, to kill saddam and take his shit, and to show his father who the real man is.
bush is a cold blooded lying sociopath. he has no compunctions against war or killing to get what he wants.

any president can start a war, the proof of their humanity and courage is accomplishing without destroying. in this bush is the worst failure in this countries history.
