It's going to be great! David Shuster exposing the lies about the "16 words" .... putting Condi on the "hot spot" .... and John Dean will discuss the VP's "shadow government."

4. H2Oman, do you think Ari has something more than he spilled the beans
to Pincus? He apparently held this back from Fitz after he got the deal.

I almost fell out of my chair at that one. I guess some of the funniest things are when we hear someone else, particuarly of stature, say outloud something that we have been saying for a long time. :smoke:

9. Do you think Ari has more that he held back on or did he give
Edited on Mon Feb-12-07 08:16 PM by caligirl
Fitz more for the agreement. Fitz gave the agreement to him without a proffer, just based on his word that he leaked and that was it. Once he got the deal he still held back on leaking to Pincus. gotta wonder what Fitz was thinking today hearing that news.

20. Interesting question.
I do not have the actual trial transcripts, and a lot tends to get lost between what exactly is stated in court, and what is reported. I have reviewed some of the blogging and other media reports.

The "Order of Use Immunity Before the Grand Jury" is Government Exhibit 51. It is fairly general in its wording.

It would not seem to make since for Ari to have not been honest in his testimony, as he had been granted immunity, no matter if he had spoken with two, three, or more journalists.

22. from the live blogging this questio n was brought up, now today we hear Pincus claim Ari told him,
From Firedoglake Jan 28th

so I wonder is this the 'bombshell' referred to that the Libby team was seeking to get at or is it something else.

"Please understand, this is ONLY tea leaf reading, but no other explanation suggests itself that accounts for all factors. I think maybe there is something out there, that came from Ari, that is NOT part of the proof relating to the crimes Libby is charged with (does this also explain why Libby's charges were so narrowly drawn?) that Team Libby is dying to know about and Pat is fighting hard to keep a secret. If it was all going to be over after the Libby trial, why fight so hard to keep this info secret? Why say that defense lawyers ask questions to try to find out things they are not supposed to find out?

Is Pat suggesting that Team Libby has gone to trial in an effort to force Pat to disclose what else he has found out? After all, a defense lawyer should not be asking questions that are designed to elicit information to help some other criminal, only those which are designed to help his own client. Asking questions and seeking info that does not help you client but instead benefit someone else, is a prohibited conflict of interest."

and

"What is Ari's bombshell? And will it come out in the Libby trial or is it still hidden at the heart of an as yet incomplete Grand Jury investigation?"http://www.firedoglake.com/2007/01/25/libby-live-cathie-martin-three/#more-6802

24. Team Libby
wants to take as much focus as possible off Libby and the charges he is facing, to point fingers at others, and to distract and confuse the jurors. Patrick Fitzgerald's job right now is to help the jury to keep their eyes on the charges that Libby is facing. And Judge Walton will continue to try to keep the trial focused.

I would suggest that Mr. Fitzgerald knew who the journalist's source was before today. Everything is going quite well right now. Team Libby has some very talented attorneys, and I'm sure they would prefer that the public be confused about Ari, rather than focused on what is actually important.

11. the difference between Olbermann and every other TV 'journalist'
is just about indescribable

if the real history of this era is ever truthfully told, Olbermann will surely be remembered as its Walter Winchell.

dunnno if future historians will be able to interpret the importance of TV/video reporting as 'reality,' especially in comparison to past years, but how does one stomach other 'news' shows, with their laughably supine coverage of this criminal bunch?

and for how much longer will Olbermann be allowed to report the way he does? is it just because he's on MSNBC? Look what they did to Rather, and how quickly they did it, for DARING to really broach the story of Bush AWOL on regular TV

14. I wish Dean had been able to speak longer.
That aside - that was a riveting 10 minutes of TV news and analysis.

Condi - what a tool. And to hear Armitage is in it up to his armpits is a letdown - I thought he had some shred of principles.

25. I've gotten some friends addicted to Keith since the trial began--
Can't wait to talk to them about this one--they're gonna LOVE IT!

BTW, I've recorded most of the trial stuff from both Keith and Hardball, if anyone needs any of it they missed and wants to share it with others.
