Fox News pushes claim Media Matters is 'criminal enterprise'
David Edwards
Published: Tuesday October 2, 2007

On the Sept. 28 broadcast of his radio show, host Mark Levin concludes that Media Matters is a "criminal enterprise."

Fox News -- on air -- went beyond reporting Levin's remarks by inviting guests to debate the legality of the media watchdog group.

The following video is from Fox's Fox & Friends, broadcast on October 2.

4. "Quoting our own words back to us is deceitful"

Someone should explain to the FOX crowd that it's only a lie when they put it out, not when someone repeats it as a quote. I guess they're easily confused.

5. The GOP, Fox and Hate Radio are doing everything in their
power to undermine and destroy(if it were possible) the
Democratic Party.

There has been this drumbeat for almost ayear now--DKos is
evil, Move On is Evil, They are all Far Left Loonies and
are evil.

The GOP is in trouble and attempting to salvage themselves
by destroying Democrats.

DKos, MoveOn and other Dem Websites are to the Dems as
the Christian Coalition is to Republicans. In their Delusions
of Grandeur the GOP only believe they are entitled to supportive
groups.

Think of the numbers Kos, MoveOn, DU and all the DEm Websites
represent. This is frightening to GOP. It is proving in black
and white the Country is not some RW Conservative entity.

Marginalize Move On, Marginalize Kos Marginalize any group
that gives hint of being Democratic. When people are threatend
they tend to get viscious in protecting themselves. The Democrats
including us had better start fighting back. Americans do not
like Cowards.

7. Some Call It Framing...Some Call It Demonizing...It's All Sliming
The Repugnican noise machine has lost its monopoly and are trying to create memes that we're sure to hear over and over next year. Somehow the 3.5 million members of MoveOn (who I'm a proud member of) and the many members of DKOS (who I'm also a very proud member of) are all evil. This attack shows how far we've come, how strong we are and how right we are. If we weren't drawing blood, they wouldn't be squealing so bad.

A couple years ago, I knew people who considered Faux a credible news operation, now many see it as a propaganda machine for the Repugnican party. The curtain on this game's been raised, the playing field is evening out and they don't like it.

It must mean we're doing something right.

FOX news would be right at home in the regimes of Hitler, Mussolini, and Laval, supporting them all to the bitter end.

16. I saw this (don't ask why)

The M.O. of the right is always, always, always attack the source and/or distract the audience.

Hence, when Dan Rather reported the Bush AWOL story on 60 minutes, the fact that the veracity of just one of multiple, multiple sources had been called into question was used by the right as an attempt to claim the entire story was false.

When General Petraeus came to Capitol Hill to sell the surge, the story quickly went from whether or not the Iraq war should be continued at its current level, to whether a newspaper ad by MoveOn.org had to be condemned for a choice of words in its title.

Now, after Rush Limbaugh makes an ass out of himself by calling dissenting servicemen "phony soldiers", the only response is to attack the organization that brought these comments to light. In other words, shoot the messenger. And act as if people on the right are never critical of any media figures. Again, this is calculated, phony outrage after their main man has gotten egg on his face.

The Fox and Friends segement was pathetic. They brought in two "talking heads." One was some unknown Democratic "stategist" who was barely able to get a word in edgewise. The other was Angela McGowan, Fox News' "token black conservative woman" who conveniently had a book to push. They actually broke for commercial, just to let McGowan back on the air to get the last word, with nary a peep from her opponent.

By the way, Mark Levin has a voice that will make your blood curdle. You've heard about having a "face for radio"? This guy has a "voice for writing". It's that bad.
