Chimpy vetoes the children's health plan today
Bush the Chickenheart has a problem with providing poor children with health care, as well as his rethuglican minions. Remember this when you vote.

O brave new world, that has such people in it.

President Bush is ready to escalate his battle with Congress over children's health insurance, planning a veto of a bipartisan bill that would have dramatically expanded the program.

It would be only the fourth veto of Bush's presidency, and one that some Republicans fear could carry steep risks for their party in next year's elections.

The White House sought as little attention as possible for the veto on Wednesday, saying the president planned to execute it behind closed doors without any fanfare or press coverage.

The State Children's Health Insurance Program is a joint state-federal effort that subsidizes health coverage for 6.6 million people, mostly children, from families that earn too much to qualify for Medicaid but not enough to afford their own private coverage.

1. If they had included stem cells in the bill, the Chimp would have signed it.

2. The dems shouldn't let him do it quietly: At the time that he's
signing it, the leadership should gather on the steps of the Capitol and make a strong statement.

3. In secret
No televised preening for Bush with this veto either.

4. Damn right it's going to be in secret
But only because the standard mix of republic sycophants (McConnell, Lott, et.al.) are leery of standing behind him with blood-stained teeth for the standard photo-op. Not this time, dipshit. They're too busy fighting for their own political lives!
