A conversation with my sister-in-law
I was talking with my sister in law, and we started talking about Hillary, and then I mentioned Dennis Kucinich. She said, "who?" And I repeated DK's name. I was dumbfounded--I asked her to name the people going for the Democratic nomination, and she said, "Hillary, Edwards and Barack Obama."

I laughed hysterically. My SIL is fairly well informed, and it shocked me that she only knew of three of the Dem nominees. So I named some of the others for her: Gravel, Dennis, Dodd, Richardson, Biden; and she said she had never heard of them. She asked why the media doesn't cover them all. I told her I had no idea, but if this is true of someone who at least watches the news, can you imagine what the rest of the people in the country know? I fucking give up. The problem isn't the republicans--it's the "jourmalists" in our country. We need to get people better informed--NOW.

8. Yup, I did
We tease each other a lot. She's always telling me how much my brother and I are alike--it's interesting because when we were younger, we were only 10 months apart, so we were always together. We drifted apart when we were in our teens, and really didn't hook up until my second attempt at living in L.A. Now, however, we seem to have the same sensibilities which are on the mark.

So, yes, I laughed. And then we had a little more fun as I asked her to name the Repub contenders, and she only mentioned Guiliani.

I think I'm going to have her watch KO and TDS for awhile, and perhaps get her onto a place like DU to bring her and my brother up to speed. The only thing is I have to teach them along the way. But at the least, perhaps more members of my family can finally see what drives me so passionately, and they might learn a few things along the way.

4. Yep, the MSM is chosin our next masters for us. Protests are not
covered. Candidates who are not on board with transferring great amounts of capital to the military industrial complex get no coverage. I have asked that we have all future protest demonstrations right in front of the MSM offices so they can't pretend we don't exist. We'll see. In the meanwhile, give money to Dennis!

7. Yeah, was talking to a friend
He asked if I was ready to have Hillary as President. When I mentioned Edwards, he said "Who?" It's Hillary, all the time, they are really pushing her on us. Why?

6. Sorry, if she's never heard of Biden, Kucinich, Dodd, Richardson
et al, she's not well informed. I live in a rural backwater, and today I was talking with a couple of folks- a logger and a guy who works in a factory and they knew who Kucinich was.
