People who think it doesn't matter
This is a question I've been unable to resolve for years. People who say all politicians are corrupt almost always vote Republican. I guess it's simple to say they have a preconceived notion and want to fulfill it (a self fulfilling prophecy). But there is the annoyance factor too. I think people who don't care just entertain themselves by irritating people who do care. But how come people who don't care are more likely to vote Republican and less likely to vote Dem? If we could figure this out I think it would make a big difference. But I can't figure out why, except, I guess they are just sadists, and the Republican party most resembles sadists. Is there anything I'm missing here? What to Dems have to do to get the "Don't Care" vote like Republicans get?

1. First of all, I would imagine the people that don't care simply wouldn't vote.
However, most people care about money to some degree; and there seems to be a common perception that Republican candidates will keep taxes lower than the "tax and spend liberals." So I believe under-informed people may vote the way they do simply because of some misguided belief that it may result in some short-term benefit to themselves.

The largest voting block is clearly the ones who don't bother to vote at all. If the last six and a half years hasn't been able to persuade them into caring enough to vote, what will?

2. I'm assuming there is a "don't care" voting block out there
They vote out of routine, duty, or just so they can tell their friends "ya I voted." Maybe they take secret comfort in getting under the skins of others. If this is the case, it will usually work out best for the minority party.
