Poll question: Who and how did you vote in 2000?
I'm just trying to confirm a pattern I'm noticing here lately...

Be honest!

2. LOL. I think some are not going to vote because of the wording "Nominee who I approve of"
I wasn't trying to be snarky, just needed to quickly express a certain attitude while fitting it into the Poll option slot. Nevertheless, the results will be skewed if those who refuse to support the nominee abstain from voting.

3. I hated b*sh before you hated bush!
but your image is awesome! ha..

no, really, I saw him pick his nose nice and deep at a 1990 baseball game and instantly thought, well I can't stand your father, and you are a repulsive little man who owns a baseball team somehow! ha

8. I voted for Bush (2000) before I voted against Bush (2004)
Will vote for the Democratic nominee in 2008 no matter what.

6. I was just old enough to vote, and hadn't registered yet.
Plus I was so busy with trying to adjust to my new life as a college Freshman at a challenging Engineering University I never would of gotten to it, even if I understood all the rules about absentee voting, and how I would have to register so that I could vote absentee.

I would of voted for Gore and then wished I had voted for Nader afterward. The post election discussions made me realize that I actually liked Nader more.

9. Thanks for this poll, Truth...
yeah i tried to make mine as open choice-wise as you have here. I've noticed the trend, too.

my poll has Gore at a steady 74%. People are waiting.

Personally, I'm a Tree Stump Dem. "Gladly for Gore- will vote Dem no matter"

I want this-

but truth be told-

11. I was tempted to vote Nader, but held my nose for gore
Looking back it was foolish to even consider nader, but I was fed up with all the bullshit around Clinton, and that confused me. But I also realized that voting Nader would have been a major mistake. That it was too important and the race was going too close to waste my vote for Nader. I held my nose and voted Gore. I have looked back and been glad I did since. No regrets (I supported the ferrengi in 92 but was too young to vote). I did vote for Clinton in 96 but reluctantly.

It's been a choice of the lesser of two evils for a long time, so I think that's how people confuse the two parties. Bill wasn't the best choice, he voted reich several times on important bills (NAFTA anyone? don't ask don't tell?) but he also worked HARD for improving the lot of everyone at a more important, basic level. he honestly wanted to provide health insurance for everyone. i think his problem might have been Hillary, and not his own convictions. They both want health coverage for all, but I think the difference is how they go about it.

Bill could balance a budget with two bits of string and 5 dollars. I don't know is Hilary has that same skill. Granted in theory Bill will be back in the white house, but I am unsure how much policy input he'll really have. Hilary seems to b the kind who will not always accept others' advice, no matter how sensible it may be. mind you, she's still better than ANY of the gop candidates (and honestly she's probably one of the 'worst' that we have).

The right has done literally nothing good for this county since it's founding. The right would have had us stay with england. the right would have kept slavery (Lincoln did what he did out of pragmatism, not out of kindness), the right would have kept child labors, and for-pay only schooling for younger kids. The right would have kept burning witches at the steak. There is NOT A DAMNED THING the right can point to in over 300 years of US history and say, Hey, that was a great idea of ours!

So I held my nose and voted Gore, and I'll hold my nose to vote Hilary in 08 if needed. I WILL, however, vote Kucinich in the primary because he's the right choice. I don't care for some of his views either, but it doesn't disqualify him as the best candidate.

12. I voted Nader
After attending a lecture he gave at the University of Iowa, I knew he was the candidate I'd vote for. And no, Nader didn't cost Gore the election; the American populace did when they sat back and allowed the Bush/Cheney machine, and the Supreme Court, to illegally ensure their wants over the public's wants and best interests. Why did Gore never demand a full recount? Maybe that doesn't bother you, but it does me.

Even though the so-called "liberal" media was clearly dead-set against Gore, who was routinely smeared as too stiff, too wishy-washy, etc in order to help (prep the public mind) what those interests I'm sure realized was the election theft waiting around the corner, I likewise had the uneasy feeling that Gore was intentionally throwing it. Afterall, he's far too intelligent for those shoddy debates he had with Bush, who, by late that night, was clearly going to be the new King Puppet for the War Machine and its vested interests. Once 9/11 occurred, and with it the knowledge of the PNAC, well, everything became painfully obvious.

Anyway, I'll definitely caucus for Dennis Kucinich. Down the road I may be willing to hold my nose and vote for Edwards, but definitely not Clinton.

14. I did not vote for President in 2000
I had just turned 18 two years before and it was my first presidential election. I definetly preferred Gore over Bush, but there were some things that I strongly disagree with Gore in his platform and given my desire to be "independent-minded" I protested and sat out the vote.

Want to know something even worse? I was living in Florida at the time. But I was registered to vote in Maryland, which went easily for Gore, so it wasn't even a problem.

All that being said, if I had to do it all over again, there would be no doubt I would have voted for Gore in a heartbeat.

You wanna live in a fascist state, fine? Move somewhere else.
Otherwise, vote for the Democrat in 2008, or YOU'RE to blame!

Anyone not voting for the Dem nominee in general election '08,
