KNOR : 110 kilos in 25 weeks (you won't want to eat pork again)
Look for this documentary on Link (just watched it  )

They usually repeat them..

KNOR 110 kilos in 25 weeks

"I'm going to tell you a story. Nothing special, just an ordinary tale. It's about a hidden life. It's not pretty, or fun, or exciting. But it's my life. You must understand: we're talking about 110 kilos. 110 kilos in 25 weeks. Preferably quicker. It's better for business, better for the farmer, better for you.

What's better for me will not concern us here. It may seem strange that a pig should put itself in the limelight. But that's democracy: everyone can have their say. That goes for me, too. So settle back, put your feet up. Sip your beer, nibble a slice of salami... I was born in early winter, the ninth of the litter. Mama did a good job: a litter of 11 healthy piglets. I've been given a name.

It's pinned to my ear: number 26,571. I'm in terrible pain. I didn't even know I was a boy. Now I'm only half a boy. Castration is an economic necessity. It prevents my flesh getting a "boar odor". Nobody will eat that. But just when I received a name, I lost my identity. Mother says that's just the way it is: "You're a meat pig.

This is industrial farming.

1. More reason for people to switch to organic pork....
Or even better , slaughter livestock in their own backyards like Grandma used to do.

2. I think I would have been a terrible farmer. I make pets out of EVERY animal
even a wolf spider who took up residency in my greenhouse window. I just could not killhim. The kids and I enjoyed watching him..and he never strayed from his wonderful web..

One day he disappeared.. i was a bit sad to see him gone..

I would have had my farm animals die from old age, I think :)

5. If you were born 300 years ago , you'd be extinct before puberty....it was a devour or be devoured..
world...

Only now do we have such abundance in the first world that we have time to feel compassionate about those little piggies...

Of course Africans are still STARVING and dying from malnutrition ,but who gives a FU$K...

Save Piggie !

6. When you eat meat you are eating that animals
last dying pain and anguish. NO thank you!! I am slowly weening myself off meat, I cannot handle seeing bloody packages of meat at the grocery store. Its hard but I think its the right thing to do.

7. I'm a carnivore...
actually and omnivore, really, but I have feelings for the animals I eat.

When I raised my own rabbits, chickens, hogs, cattle, geese, turkeys, and ducks, they lived a comfortable, pampered life. I wish the poor people in Iraq could live like my pigs lived... and ate as well as they did. I bragged that they only had one really bad moment in their whole lives. No fear, no running, no pain. I did it myself, and the last thing they saw was a pile of lettuce.

Now that I don't raise my own anymore, I buy from people who raise their animals the way I did. The taste is better than factory-raised, and not just because I know the animal was well treated.

To change our meat-raising system to a humane one would cost quite a bit, but well worth it.

Better than pissing our money away on killing people on the other side of the world.

8. I don't eat meat.
I'm healthier and feel guilt free about contributing to the horrors these poor sentient beings go through. That doesn't stop me from grieving over the pain they endure throughout their entire lives.

10. I could not even get past the photo. I LOVE Pigs!
They are way smarter than most of the humans I know. I read a book a while ago called "The Good, Good Pig". What a woderful story that will touch your heart. That baby was meant for the slaughterhouse and ended up being adopted by a vegetarian family. He lived for fourteen loving wonderful years. We have so much to learn from the beautiful creatures on this earth...
