WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Deepening unhappiness with President George W. Bush and the U.S. Congress soured the mood of Americans and sent Bush's approval rating to another record low this month, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.

The Reuters/Zogby Index, which measures the mood of the country, also fell from 98.8 to 96 -- the second consecutive month it has dropped. The number of Americans who believe the country is on the wrong track jumped four points to 66 percent.

Bush's job approval rating fell to 24 percent from last month's record low for a Zogby poll of 29 percent. A paltry 11 percent gave Congress a positive grade, tying last month's record low.

2. None of this matters unless people lose their elections in 08
Shrub, of course, doesn't have to worry about that. Most members of Congress will run unopposed in their primaries or generals so they don't have to worry either. Only when folks in "safe" districts get tossed out will they listen.

3. I thought the 29% were do or diers...
I guess even they can reach to point of "far too much"

5. I've always pegged the diehard support at 30%
with about 5% of them the wafflers that the DLC has been pandering to all these years, which is how we lost all 3 branches of government and got into this mess.

The real diehard core is about 20%, and those are people who are so damned dumb and disconnected that they say they approve because recognizing the name gave them a little frisson of feeling competent.

To get to those dummies, he'd have to strap on a bomb and blow up a kindergarten. Even then, if it wasn't in their town, they wouldn't be reached.

It reminds me of the advice on how to make a mule behave. First, get the mule's attention...

7. True
one of those idiots was on another message board I'm on, and his determined stupidity was breathtaking. He defended mercs, laughed off Nuremberg, blathered about the "new caliphate" raised by the "Islamofascists"...and yet claimed to be supporting constitutional gov't and rights of the people(as long as terrorists were hunted down good).

He made my brain hurt. "Bringing freedom around the world!"

Where is Darwin when you need him?

4. The GOPers thought they had a big victory with Petraeus' appearance
and the Surge-is-working stuff--they thought America would suddenly say, "Oh, wait--the Iraq war is going WELL now, after almost 5 years of pointless bloodshed--never mind! Carry on!" Instead, they miscalculated--Americans want this fiasco to END, no matter how many positive headlines are trumpeted by the GOP--there's a frustration that September came and went with no end in sight.

9. If Cheney can make it down to 19%, so can Bush.
Why aren't they impeached? Because Americans are now accepting a new low level of incompetence and corruption.

Can't be any other explanation.

10. They aren't impeached because of their co-conspirators in Congress
Which is one reason why Congress has an even lower approval rating.

look at Putin's MSM. It's just the same way over there. Their anchors aren't hotties, though and they still are unsubtle in their lies, not nearly as much as the way our Corporate TV Infoganda slips in in under everyone's radar so it just becomes part of the false gestalt.

It's the same everywhere Bushies rule or have ruled in all their many forms throughout the ages, back from their beginnings in the Middle Ages as Feudal European Aristocrats and Kings.

25. Different Polls
This is the lowest he's been in this poll. Other polls have him lower or higher depending on their percentages of Reps, Democrats, and Undecided-independents. Gallups tends to poll a greater percentage of Reps, Zogby more Democrats, etc. If you average them out, however, GWB is going down, down, down. Come on, 20%!
