Woman, 69, hit by stun gun after honking at cops
Mo. driver who honked at police, sparking altercation, must pay $650

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A 69-year-old woman who was shocked with a stun gun after she honked her car horn at a police cruiser has been convicted of resisting arrest for sparking a quarrel with officers.

A Circuit Court jury refused to send Louise Jones to jail, fining her $650 instead.

Jones’ attorney, Basil North, said he might appeal. “We don’t think she should have been convicted of anything,” he said.

On June 15, 2004, police officers Cory Le Moine and Ryan VanDeusen responded to a domestic disturbance call near Jones’ home. The officers were cruising the street slowly, watching for trouble. Jones was in her car behind the police vehicle when she honked her horn and pulled into her driveway.

Police, spooked by the horn, parked and questioned Jones, leading to a scuffle after they threatened to write her a ticket. The stun gun of one of the officers discharged during the altercation, according to testimony.

3. Mere proles must learn their place.
How dare a <spit> civilian have the temerity to beep their horn at the annointed masters of the world? My God, if such insolence is allowed to stand, where will it end? People might start to think the police are actually public servants, accountable to those they serve. We can't have that now, can we? What's the point of swaggering around in a menacing uniform, draped in weapons and bondage gear, if you're just an ordinary schmoe like everyone else?

4. Actually the police are not there to protect and serve the community
they are there to protect and serve the law. No, really.

6. Unfortunately, you're absolutely correct.

It explains a lot: people who serve abstract concepts instead of the common good are inevitably the enemy of the common good.

5. So it "just went off"?
Oh, okay. I can beleive that. Problem is, her horn "just went off"

Cripes. Somedays I wonder if having the Gestapo would be an improvement over the average American police officer.

7. the lady in the wheel chair died after a few hits by the stun gun - it isn't a make nice
weapon - but the police are using it to make people not say whatever might offend those cops.

8. So the stun gun jumped out of its holster, pointed itself at the woman,
The stun gun of one of the officers discharged during the altercation, according to testimony.

So the stun gun jumped out of its holster, pointed itself at the woman, and zapped her out of sheer electronic willfulness. I hope they suspended that stun gun and busted it a rank, or at least sent it back to the manufacturer for Stun Gun Remedial Training.

Maybe they should put leashes on the stun guns, like they do with K9 units...

Geez. Stun guns, like real guns, don't "go off" and zap people by themselves. They zap people when they are pointed at people and the trigger/button is pressed.

11. Pigs are thugs and bullies
at best. They can basically do whatever the f*ck they want, including attacking elderly women for honking.

F*ck the police.

12. This is really outrageous...
Are cops really this frightened of elderly women? It's long past time for citizens to DEMAND that tasers be outlawed. The abuse of these weapons far outweighs any legitimate purpose they once may have had.
