Right-wing rag: Randi Rhodes Mugging a Hoax.

Yes, just when you think they can't sink any lower, they scoop up another mouth full of cr@p and dig the septic tank just a little deeper.

Right-wing rag, The Post-Chronicle, is running a story today that the "Randi Rhodes' Mugging is a Hoax". (here is the link for proof, but rather than click it and increase their hits, here is the story)

Randi Rhodes Mugging In NY A Hoax

Randi Rhodes apparently fell down in NYC while walking her dog and was injured. That's it.

Here's a statement from Team Rhodes via Air America: Randi Rhodes "experienced an unfortunate incident. The reports of a presumed hate crime are unfounded," the statement was read by a receptionist at the network's New York offices. "Ms. Rhodes is looking forward to being back on the air on Thursday."

The loonies that listen to that station were furious. One of the Air America hosts actually went on air with the fabrication. According to a report from the New York Daily news Jon Elliott proclaimed that Rhodes had been mugged and lost several teeth in the attack.

"Is this an attempt by the right-wing, hate machine to silence one of our own?" he asked on the air. "Are we threatening them? Are they afraid that we're winning? Are they trying to silence intimidate us?"

That's it. That's the entire story. Now excuse me while I go vomit.

he? "Hoax" is way off the mark, but there was a misunderstanding.

2. Air America did not help this situation. That is certainly not to blame Miss Rhodes.

But the idiot who spread rumor and lies on the air made a confusing situation worse.

What ever happened to getting facts first before spouting off? That's always helpful...

As far as I'm concerned, any paper that, in a news story, characterizes people of a given political position as "loonies" has forfeited any claim to even the most minimal standards of journalism. :spank:

Funny how it's once of those pages that are 99% ads and you have to hunt just to find the actual content. And based by it's banner ads for teenage webcams I would not say they are in the position to make any reliable judgments on the behavior of others. Is this a real news organization in any way?
